After some scale dimensions for spread axle

Hi guys, if I were to make a spread axle trailer, how far should I space the axles, centre to centre? Thinking of building a trailer to match my truck and need to get the dimensions on paper.

Out here in the West, they have to be 11 ft. apart, which would be 9.42 inches (or 9 1/2 in.) center to center.

VERY hard on the tires when turning sharp corners...

Thanks Jim, that helps a lot. Yes I imagine there's quite a lot of scrub going on with that kind of axle setup. Does anyone know if the spacing differs between states?

Thanks

Actually anywhere in the US the have to be a min. of 10'2" center axle to center axle. any closer than that and they are considered a tandem. That would work out to 8.7142" or just under 8-23/32 or 221mm.

The only real difference between states is some of the western states allow you to go 84,000# with a spread, that is providing you register the truck for that much.

In all 48 states you are allowed to put 20,000# per axle (40,000# group) on a spread.
