Went in early and stayed late to spend 2hr at the mill. Stage 2 and 3 outrigger tube are further along.

Wow, I can't wait to see the actual crane portion of this!!! I can't say it enough, this build is absolutely gorgeous.

Chi-Noos
don't get my hopes up. But I have been thinking about this build for several years.

BTW
firgelli's came in, extrusions came and the first order from servocity came in. Next order due Monday.
wheels and rims are on back order.

Looks like a Terex AC350 to me, am I right?

For inspiration, look at the LTM1400 from Richard: http://www.rmw-technoscalemodels.nl/...n/ltm1400.html
There are two of those BTW. I have often photographed this crane, and did some driving and hoisting as well.

He is also building a LR1750 crawler crane.

There are not a lot of cranes out there, always nice to see a crane build.
Kerst and Eef7260 here on the forum made some nice cranes as well.

Regardless of how long you've been dreaming, its starting to become reality now. Keep up the great cad work and actual construction too.

William - your getting close. Good to know about the other cranes. I'll go take a peak later this weekend.

Chi-Noosa - hard not to be decent at Cad - it's my day job.

Looking good Izzy. How many channels is it going to take to operate the crane?

Re: More than just a thought ...

Hmmm - good question

- Power drive/stabilize
- Fwd / Rev
- Steer axels 1 & 6
- Steer 2 & 5
- Steer 3 & 4
Outrigger stage 1
Outrigger stage 2
Outrigger A
Outrigger B
Outrigger C
Outrigger D
Power Carriage
Pivot Right / Left
Boom Lift/Lower (hydraulic)
Boom Extension ??????
Cable In / Out
Counter weight Lift/Lower
Counter weight in/out

at least 18 I suppose - not sure how I am doing the boom extension just yet.

I was figuring to have 3 receivers -2 battery sources
driving
Stabilizing
Boom and Carriage

18 channels? Is there a transmitter that would supply more than that just in case? Anyways this is looking amazing thus far.

I picked up a frsky taranis radio for $279. A lot of heli aerial photography guys use them. I'm not wanting to push anything but this radio works for me and is on par or better than $$$ other systems. Here is a clip of the specs.

More than I will ever need but for a build like this it is a less expensive idea :).

Re: More than just a thought ...

Chi-Noos - really high end stuff can. Spectrum does 18 but it's really a 9 with a servo split that doubles over to 18. Not real sure how it's done but it's available.

Cooper - appreciate the info.

As of right now. Since you don't operate support legs while driving or boom functions while driving or working legs . I figure to use a 10 channel and 3 diff er entry receivers - switching models in between. Therefore 30 sets of 10 channels
spectrum DX10

I knew spectrum and futaba made 18 channel radios but didn't know

Re: More than just a thought ...

Ok so yesterday I cut the extrusions for the chassis. Last night I drilled a bunch of holes and made fixtures to hold the parts for the summer frames. This morning I did some more mill work for the spring mounts. And when I got home I cleaned up a bunch of burrs from all that.

So add another 5 hr to the build.

Stopping by the alum. Shop to see if they can tack weld my sub frames together.

Wow this is going to be a build and half!! Hats off to you, can't wait to see it working!! Just from my stuff I have to put stickey notes on things to remember what switches do what, you might need to make a operators manual!! Lol :). So what did you do for the gear that drives the rack? Is that a motor or actuators also? (To extend the supports outward).
