Scam,everyone should read this!
Yesterday I posted few of my trucks for sale on Kijiji and got a reply on one of them. After few basic questions the guy sent me this E mail, I know its a scam, but cant remember how they hook you.
Hello , Thanks for your response, and am ok with the quoted price, I Reside in California USA and i work in the US Military Force, as a bomb detecting officer at this present moment am on peace keeping mission in Afghan. I am buying this for a family member as a surprise gift. ur ad really got my interest and am absolutely satisfied with it, i wish i could come inspect it before the purchase, but my job doesnt permit me, one more thing is I can only proceed with payment through PayPal or an E-transfer at the moment as i don't have access to any other payment means here on sea, but i can make pay-pal payment or initiate an E-transfer here online, and this is why insisted on using PayPal or E-transfer for payment..,all i will need is your PayPal email address to make the payments and if you don't have a PayPal account yet, you can create one at www.paypal.com it takes you less than 3minute to do that, or if u accept E-transfer, all am gonna need is the email to make the payment, i will be expecting your PayPal email or E-transfer details as required for payment. their is a shipping company that will come for the pick up after i have successfully make the payment to you, they will schedule time and date with you, they will need the pick up location detail address, documentations regarding the item and all other documentations should be prepared by my Pick Up Agent... Thanks |

Re: Scam,everyone should read this!
I had the same experience about 2 years ago. Selling my King hauler and a couple trailers for $1500 and I get a email from some Marco Guy. I saved the emails and he ended up sending me two money orders totaling about $3500. I took them to the bank and said they are probably counterfeit. Of course they were. So I sent the guy a email and said once they clear the bank I'd finish the agreement. Another week went by and I sent him a message that I cashed the Money orders and I was keeping the money and the truck. I never heard from the guy again. The bank called the local police but nothing ever came of it. I've had about 5 guys try scamming me since I've been using the internet to sell stuff. But I'm cautious and haven't been scammed yet.
I just went back and looked. It was quite comical. His email was: marco.johnson75@yahoo.com. Lol. |

It's one thing to try and scam.people out of money which I obviously don't agree with but to sink as low as saying your in the military what a piece of S#IT. It's people like that I wish nothing but misfortune to. Maybe I am overreacting.

Whenever I get idiots like that requesting info I usually respond like I'm interested in there offer and then send them the local police station address and phone for contact. |

They also do this on Craigs list. if you release what your selling before the check or whatever clears your out both. I had a massage chair that the wife don't use on craigs list for 800. I'm in Akron, ohio. some nut that says he was from Texas and in the Army wants to buy the chair and send me a Cashiers check then send someone for the chair. I'm thinking, Don't they have chairs there in Texas. Told him to send check but I will not release item for 3 weeks to clear. never heard from him again. Other items they text me and saying to respond to a GMail address to set up payment. They always ask if I Still have the ITEM for sale. I always reply WHICH ITEM? Again do not hear back.
Sad part is there are some people that get taken by this. |

I imagine that the SCAM would be that the item is paid for with PayPal, but sent to an address that is different to the one that is registered with the buyers Paypal account, the buyer would then open an "Item not received" case, and get a full refund, and still have the goods that were purchased..
