Cheer's, Neil.

Thanks Neil! Its been alot of fun so far, I have no complaints

Pretty much wrapped up the plow today. Still needs some sanding and decals, as well as some markers for the plow and wings and maybe some lights down the road. :p The important part is that it works :D I ended up lucking out and will be able to use this for my final in my Inventor class. I highly doubt many of my class mates will expect for me to bring in a real model of what I designed ;) Hopefully by next Tuesday I have the little details done too. Anyways, I took the truck and plow to the Kansas show and used it to push some dirt there and was pretty happy with how it performed. Brought it home and after staring at it for a while figured the plow height was too high so I redesigned to be a little shorter. Well I'll shut up and let the pictures and video do the talking :D

Dont have any good reference pictures, but this is the second version of the plow. The pictures from Kansas are with the first version. Even now its pretty high but much better that the first one.

Then with the wings I completed today. To date, I haven't been able to find any other RC snow plows that have had wings. (I realize now, because they are a pain in the *** to design for such a simple piece :o ) But I thought doing the wings would set it apart from all the others. I think the working trip edge sets it apart too.

Thanks everyone for looking, sorry about the phone pictures..... my camera didn't appreciate the flood in the basement haha Should have a few more updates on the plow before it is finished. I think I'm going to take a shot at a working salt spreader too ;)

The salt spreader should be easy with the 3d printer, I like the plow!

Thanks fellas! :D

Thought I could show the Cad models. This is what I'm presenting for my final and I'm taking the truck in  I'm thinking I can squeeze an A outta this one ;)

I didnt model every little thing on this one since I was already pressed for time. I'm hoping to improve on my 3D modeling skills over the summer :)

Not much of an update, but a few small details that I did today. It bugged me that I hadn't made the plow markers yet. Even though they are such a small and simple detail, in real life you rely on them so much to know where you are. So I ran to the hardware store to pick up the brass and started bending and painting. I would still like to do vinyl decals, but who knows if I'll ever get around to them... I also put a SMX into the truck, it came out of my semi and it works okay, but I would like to get a new one for the Pete because this one got wet in the flood and ruined the potentiometer and casing..... Anyways, here are some pictures and a video. I really need to find some "snow" to break this thing in before winter :D

JD that is an awesome 2500 you've built, your printing design and technic is impressive, nice work.

Been working on a few things for the truck.... Made a mount for the RC4WD Pintle and Lunette. And since I made that I ordered a bruder dump trailer and started to convert it so it will dump, just need to get a faster motor to run the screw drive! No pictures of the trailer yet... Then I ordered a light bar for a 1:24 cop car but got all the LEDs in amber. Can't have a proper plow truck without a light bar ;) Ordered a kit for wig wags too so should have those next week sometime :D

Some of the pictures are a little out of focus :o

More people should look at this thread. I'm sure it's been overlooked all to easily. This is a really great build. I like the snowplow and the truck. Very cool, J.D. I love all the little details.

This truck keeps developing into something even cooler! I love the new blade, and wings! Light bar is sweet as well!

What do you use to make your parts? Since you drew them up in CAD, did you 3D print them?

Thanks! Yep, you're spot on about the 3D printer. I bought one of the Afinia Printers for my birthday and it has been very useful :D:D

I finished up the truck tonight. Just had to do the lights which had been sitting on the work bench for most of the summer. So much for getting alot of work done on my models this summer.... Well here are some pictures and a Youtube video. Hope you guys enjoyed! Working on a dump trailer for the pickup after I finish my Peterbilt :cool:

Seems like winter caught up on me... That just means I got to test the truck today after I got home from work :) Time to hopefully focus on some design work, 3D Printing, and maybe some model building :D:eek:

Re: Chevy 2500 Pickup

Have a bit of an update for the pickup. Finally got around to designing a hitch mounted 1000 pound salt spreader. Started to print parts out and cut some brass yesterday afternoon. My plan is to have an operating salt spreader by the end of the week, but we will see how that plan goes ;)

Here is the salt spreader that I modeled mine after:

Here is my progression of the computer model:

And the finished computer model:

http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9178b0df.jpg

Put the printer to work :)

I'm hoping this pile of brass turns out similar to the frame in the picture ;)

JD, this is looking good can't, wait to see a video, will you be using table salt or will it work with regular "sidewalk" salt?

Will the spreader work with fertilizer too?
Cheers, Neil.

Thanks! I'll be using table salt, the proportions would be funky if I used regular sidewalk salt. The auger would have to be multiple times bigger :eek:

Why not? I've pushed dirt with the snow plow before ;)

Here is where I stopped for the night. One more component to build out of brass and I can get a proper test done. I may have cheated and done a very crude test, but I couldnt resist :D:cop: No pictures of that though!

Here are some pictures of the set ups for soldering and some of the assembly.
