RCT&C Midwest FALL Meet ~ Oct. 25-26
Asking around @ Indy, it was clear we want a Fall show. All are encouraged to come and play.
The next tasks to try to complete are finishing the roads and possibly lay down some concrete so stock trucks can at least deliver equipment. This time I would recommend at least your front tandem is locked to get around. Dump truck might consider all locked axles. Not sure if we will have a way to screen the dirt yet but that's definitely needed. Suggestions and ideas are welcome. I'm hoping the weather holds out. Travis will bring some crushed rubber in case we need to hide inside the hangar. I know things can change but we will want a roll call so I can figure out logistics. I can check with Pete if he's free to cook lunch for us again if there are enough guys coming. |

im in for sure. I missed Indy (again) and I really wanted to go. been waiting for this fall meet the day after I left your first spring meet.
Guys this is a great event if you missed the first one. Everything is awesome the Location, hanger, out door play area, hotel, train museum, R/C air planes!!.... Its a great time for all. I think the out side area is the highlight of our R/C trucking. The indoor is nice for foul weather but the out side is where the fun is at. (just my .02) I do think we could do a few things different to make sure everyone can enjoy the out side area. We could improve the road from the Hanger side walk to the pile to allow the on road guys to get out side into the action. Improve the ring road and make a flat parking area for the on road guys /Low boys so they don't get stuck every 5' trying to get to the action. Mixing some dirt or clay into the sand will help with traction and keeping the main roads smooth and Yes if you want to have fun in the off road area lock in those axels! its easy,free and you can always go back to open diffs. Your trucks will not make it far in the dirt with open diffs. even with one locked diff it will likely get stuck quick. don't get me started on some of the low bumpers I see LOL!!! The sand pile was great for digging in and I would like to maybe layout a few specific areas that have a job so to speak. Watching the you tube vids of the people in Europe I see that they often have tasks that they operate around. For example we can make an area where a road is being built to reach another road. trucks and machines can work to build that. (started this at the last show but the road went no where, it was fun and challenging) maybe have a spot where trucks can dump over a wall where loaders are down below. this will keep the material flowing for people running machines.(we did this the last morning and it was working pretty good) have a spot where an over pass is being built and make ramps leading up to each side of the bridge.(seen this on you tube where trucks brought in dirt and the machines made the ramps.) At the end of the last event we started to use wood for roads that had a incline. this helped with traction and got the dump trucks up on top of the piles where they could work from. I think we can again use this or carpet strips to help with traction in spots where we need it. those are some of the things I can think of that may make this event great. PFB I would be willing to come down one weekend sometime before the meet and spend a day helping set up the area. Trent . |

DieselKid (Alex) and myself (FabOne) plan on making the trip. We'll probably stay all day Saturday (25th) and Sunday (26th) and return home on Monday. Lookin forward to getting together with everyone again!

My brother and I plan to be there, probably arrive Friday late afternoon/night. Will stay all of Saturday and Sunday, or until everyone else packs up :) Could we look into a group rate for the hotel??

Not this year for me :( I got 2 back to back after this week and indy blew my distance travel funds . If y'all doo 1 in the summer after kids get out of skewl we may hop in the model A and scoot on up there .

We're one month out now. I've got a lot of weeds to kill. I've never seen weeds grow this fast but the whole site is literally covered with 5' of weeds. Gonna spray roundup a few times and then cleanup the dead stuff with a leaf blower. If anyone has better ideas, I'm all ears.
I'm hoping to have a trommel at the event to screen material. Woodhog is working on that and it's harvest time for him so I'm not sure we'll see it. We have 13 people that are coming with a few maybes in there. Hotel says 15 rooms minimum for a discount rate. We're at about 6-7 rooms now. If you cannot afford the hotel and really want to come. You're more than welcome to crash at my place. I have floor space for multiple airbeds and the fold-out couch is currently not spoken for. I make no promises you won't be accompanied with a sleeping companion that is dog-shaped. He is king of all sleeping surfaces in the house. |

Just heard both hotels in Monticello are booked. If you need a room and haven't booked yet, you can stay in Champaign or Decatur. Both are 20 miles from the field along I-72.
Schedule for next weekend will approximately be: Friday - Myself and likely Travis/Izzy will be at the field setting up. Should be there late. If you arrive around dinner time, wait a bit and we should be back. Saturday - I will be there 8am at the latest and plan to stay until I can't feel my brain working anymore (11-12pm) Sunday - I'll be there again @ 8am and will stay as late as anyone wants to play. Last time we ended at about noon. If it rains or we decide it's too cold/windy, we have crushed rubber to be able to play with inside the hangar. Pete will not be there to cook food for us this time so we can order food as a group or go on our own. I will have bottled water on hand for everyone. Thinking about cooking some brats/burgers on Saturday night. I don't have a head count as of yet but the entrance fee will not exceed $20. Last event we were able to donate $300 to the club and cover Pete's expenses for food. You do have the option to join our club with a "Track Access Membership" for $40 per year. If you plan on attending the spring and fall show it's basically the same cost but gives you access to the site year round. New members applying until the end of this year are paid up until Dec. 2015 so you can save $20 if you apply now. Well I don't always believe what I read so I called best western and was told they had one room left for Saturday and Sunday, a single queen so I took it! :D:D:bounce::bounce:
