Steamer

Well after a lot of prodding from Greg and Lou I guess this is the start of my thread. This weekend the three of us went in with the Campbell River model railway club for their annual train show. Albert and Jordy from the Port came over and it was a fun time with about 850 people threw the doors.

The first video is for Scott as it's his #1 Cat getting her feet dirty in the coal pile.

Next vid is mister smoothy Greg loading my G scale train for delivery

I have more pictures but we'll see how this works out.

Steamer

Glad to see you start a thread.
I had a great time at the show.
Thanks Albert for letting me run the Skid Steer. Now I have to scrub all the coal dust off of it before I return it:D

Re: Steamer

Well I guess that I should start a truck build and this is my first RC truck. Was a Wall Mart last year and saw this Freight liner dump with pup. Thought that it might be a good truck to model
http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...htliner002.jpg
Took it home and put it away and that was it, till I met up with Lou and Greg at a train show in Port Alberni. Seeing the great models that they had, I was hooked. Back in the sixties I worked for the Four Wheel Drive Corporation in Kitchener on the end of the highway truck line. We built one cab over with a longer frame that had a dump body installed buy Frink. That truck always stuck with me, so I decided why not build it from the Globe Liner. The first thing to do was install a longer frame and put on plenty of fuel for the long haul trips.

I also ran the cab through the table saw to go from a 108" cab to a 96".

Thanks for looking

Nice Rob!

Pretty soon you're going to keep Greg and Lou busy loading your truck.

Rob, I don't know how I missed this thread?:o

Thanks for the videos of the Delta Loader working.:)

That is a tiny battery you are using in it Albert.

The progress of your Cab over and trailer will be fun to watch.

Nice operating Greg, loading into that small train hopper really shows some good skills!

The vid of Lou moving that huge log is cool, the log is almost as big as the machine.

Looks like you guys had a blast. Having the equipment closer to eye level really makes it more enjoyable. Thanks so much for sharing!

Nice looking truck Rob
I didn't know what a FWD was until I ran into you. Looking forward to loading it up and putting it to work.

Scott,

I use a 2cell 1300mah lipo pack in it (it is actually the flight pack for my Align 600E heli).

Wow! Nice styrene work. It looks really good Rob.

Re: Steamer

Nice job on the styrene work Rob. Bending the stuff and having it stay there is not easy. Building it up like you did is usually the best way to do it.

Now I am confused, is it going to be a freightliner or a FWD?

Interesting new look for the globeliner donor, a great start so far Rob.

You'll have to get Greg & Lou to help ya with making a youtube account for future videos cause I just cannot get any of your vids from the railroad show to load. :(

Re: Steamer

Thanks Scott and Mike for your comments on the styrene. This is a first for me for this type of construction, but it was fun learning curve. Up till now it's been strictly metal. Plastic melts when you burn coal. Mike, sorry for the confusion, but yes it will be a ForWarD Mover all the way. The Freightliner was just for the concept. I was thinking about it, but it would have been an even bigger mod than what I'm doing. Remember this is my first truck.
Joe, don't know what to say, yours is the first that wouldn't work. Anyone else have a problem. I have a U tube acct. but thought it would be easier to just use one place to link everything for the build.

Re: Steamer

After sanding and filling too many time to count, I gave her a shot of primer.
http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...DWBuild052.jpg
The grill was made from a second globe liner grill and the two were sectioned together. I all so attached an extension to the fender flare that runs to the back of the cab.
http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...DWBuild053.jpg
Next up was to add on some of the lights and stacks to get a feel of how it was going. Even tried new wheels. Sorry Steve didn't know you were making them when this was done.
http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/...WDBuild066.jpg
Next up was making the screw drive and I didn't think to take pictures until it was painted.
