Parts Suppliers

What ever happened to all of the Tamiya parts suppliers of 6-7 years ago?
Back then you could find a source for any Tamiya stock kit part for tractors and trailers to use on kit-bashing projects. Things like frame rails, stock wheels/tires, axles, suspensions, body parts, etc. Nowadays there's nothing out there except expensive aftermarket custom parts.

On that note, is there ANYone out there with a complete stock Tamiya rear tandem axle suspension they'd like to sell? I'd like to build a tandem axle converter dolly… but can't find the suspension parts anywhere.

Re: Parts Suppliers

I think most of them were just hobby guys who bought kits and broke them down to resell as sub-assemblies to fund their toys. As the economy comes back, they'll spring back up.

I think Joes Truck Stop (guy over on scale 4x4) is still in business on ebay and facebook

Re: Parts Suppliers

I agree they are getting fewer and fewer, there was a time when you could get the parts you wanted without buying the complete parts tree like alot of the sellers are offering and when you buy the parts tree you also have to buy the coresponding metal bag/s to get the other parts needed for that tree just to build that one part you needed in the 1st place, and then there is the stupid cost of getting it if you can find what you needed.....
Even my guy in Aus that I use to get what ever I wanted is getting out of it which is a shame as he use to be the best price around,
But if you want after market metal parts its good now except for the stupid prices some of the sellers are asking for crap....

Cheers Tracy

Re: Parts Suppliers

It's a shame parts aren't readily available…
You'd think Tamiya USA would get into selling parts packages with all metal and plastic parts needed.

Re: Parts Suppliers

I agree that it's a shame but no one does it because there is no money in it. People want to buy $5-10 worth of parts and it costs more than that to package it and drive to the post office. If a seller was to have a minimum order of $50-$100 which might be worth while then only a few people would buy. It sucks but it's true.
