ertl 1550 dozer build
I bought a ertl dozer of ebay a month ago and finally started to build it up. using a pair of 30 rpm right angle gear head motors, 18t sprocket, #35 chain with k1 attachment, 2" brass for the front idler. still have a few thing to figure out and order hopping to have done soon.

Re: ertl 1550 dozer build
That's a great looking model! I've never seen one of those converted before. It looks like you are off to a great start. May I ask for a link to where you sourced the motors from? Do they have a lot of power? I have been trying to get my hands on some of those but have been reluctant to order any because the torque numbers aren't usually provided.
Thanks, Reg |

I ordered them off ebay. never look at torque number when ordered them just went with 30 rpm. they are all metal and good for 12v.

Re: ertl 1550 dozer build
How easy are they to stall with the sprocket attached? Any idea?
Thanks |
Re: ertl 1550 dozer build

Re: ertl 1550 dozer build
looking good that brass will really help to keep the front end down and the blade get in a cut.

Re: ertl 1550 dozer build
did a bunch more to the dozer today got the track pads all finished up, built a canopy and a shack, wired up the sabertooth esc. need to order some actuators and it will be ready to push some dirt.

Nice dozer!

Re: ertl 1550 dozer build
here is the dozer all striped down. going to blast it and paint tomorrow, had to order some new motors for the gear box after couple hours of pushing shredded rubber around the garage one of the motors lost power. figured out that a 1/18th brushless losi crawler motor bolts right onto them and has double the speed and more then double the torque.

Cool build! Have one of these sitting out in the garage that the nephew likes to push around in the flower beds! He'd really get a kick out of this R/C build!:D
Nice job! -Alex |
Re: ertl 1550 dozer build
haven't done much to dozer lately need to rework the drive motor and gear box the stock brushed motors didn't have the power so i changed them to brushless now it stripped gears in gear box.

Re: ertl 1550 dozer build
Nice conversion. With the angular gearboxes it seems that you can use the original wodth of the blade. So they don´t need so much space as the geared motors in my conversion. What is the weight of the dozer?
