New Grand Hauler Stretch NOW WITH PICTURES, I hope.

I thought you all might like to follow along on my biggest project yet. Actually, it's only my second truck build, but still way bigger than the first.

My intent is to double the sleeper on a Grand Hauler, stretch the frame 6", and add a third driven rear axle. I'm sure other ideas/additions will come along as I build, but this is the base idea.

I'll be building this is stages as I save up the money to buy the parts, so please be patient as there may be lulls in the action.

Now I'm ready for paint. I should have waited for my grey primer to come in instead of using the white. Mainly because the one body was factory painted black and I had to use a thicker coat of white primer than I would have liked. However, good model detail still remains. I'll just have to be careful with my finish coat.

Once I get the body painted, I'll post that up. I'm supposed to get my frame extensions on Tuesday, so I'll begin that process then.

I hope you find this interesting. I know it sure is fun for me.

That's a whole lot of nice looking 'Do not enter' style minus symbols.

Even the one link your intro posts had that actually would output to a picture, isn't working anymore.

That's odd because the pictures are showing up perfectly fine on my end. I thought I had it figured out. :(

Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Exactly what are you seeing when you click on the link?

I may have to break down and get a Photo Bucket account.

Here's how the rest of the world is seeing your truck

Seriously though, DO NOT get photobucket after all their crap the last few years.

I'd suggest one of the hosts that already has a walk-through posted here,

Well, I finally got around to figuring out how to post pictures here. Anyway, I've pretty much finished the project, so I thought I'd give you all a look.

I still have more to do, but it's about 90% complete.

Thanks to Northern Farmer for his post on how to use post images.org. Seems to work well.

Re: New Grand Hauler Stretch

Finally! I was able to get pictures to post! :bounce:

Thanks for the kind comments.

I still have to add the visor, some flashing lights, rear fenders (on order) and a bunch of miscellaneous small items. I also have to finish the driveline. I'm going to use a 4:1 reduction box to slow this truck down to a more normal speed. I used a 54 turn motor on my King Hauler and it's still way too fast.

Once I get all that done, I'll have to save up to get a multi function unit and get it installed. I suspect this will take quite a bit of time because I will probably have to lengthen all the wires for the lights due to the truck's length. I've never soldered such small delicate wires before, so this should be a good learning exercise.

I'll keep you posted as I proceed.

Here are some of the pictures taken when I extended the sleeper. Thought maybe you would be interested in seeing them.

The color I used was Tamiya Chrome Yellow with Tamiya Pearl Clear over it.
