Euclid R18
 

Hey guys, I'm new to the site and I guess scratch building RC's as well. I haven't been involved with RC cars for about twenty years but when my father-inlaw got a cheap helicopter for xmas I found myself buying one too the next day! To say the least I am hooked again and after scratch building a scale commercial fishboat in january I started surfing youtube for RC videos. Being interested in logging equipment I did a search for RC stuff and found tracksntreadslou's videos first with the P16. My Dad picked up an old 1961 Euclid in the late 80's (an ex Butler Bro's truck) for use on our property and it's still kickin around so I thought it was a good place to start. My skills are not on the same level as most of you on this forum but I think it's a hobby and as long as your having fun thats all that matters! It has a long way to go but it's getting there.

Hi Reg welcome to the forum...great job on the euc..Pretty much nailed it ..I have a feeling i am going to be loading that brute one day soon..What part of the island are you from ?

Wow I like that truck,or any Euclid truck 40's-50's vintage. I was thinking about one of these too in the future. A couple guys bring old R10's to our antique digging show to haul dirt. Fun little truck to drive.

Thanks for the comments guys. I don't know how many of you have seen or driven one of these trucks but they are pretty crude so it makes for a little bit easier build. I hope to finish the box and some other details soon so that I can paint all of it but it's been running for a while so some of my build time has turned into play time. My Dad has a 955K and I'm hoping to try my luck at that after the truck is finished but I will need some advice when it comes to the guts of that project(drives and hydros).

Lou, I hope to have you load it this summer at the truck show in Port. Oh ya I'm from Sooke.

It never fails to amaze me that the guys who are the most modest about their skills, build the best looking models! From where I am standing, this is nothing short of amazing. You have an incredible looking model on your hands. You should be proud. Good work.

Reg. Welcome to the forum. Another guy from the island. I was going to say if it was a Butler truck you might be from out Sydney way. The Euclid is a beauty and looks to be a fair size from the pictures. What scale is it. Looking forward to see it in person.

I'm not sure what the scale would be exactly but the real truck is about 25' long and the "mini me" version is about 27". I think it would be around 1/10+or-?

:eek: No skills:eek: You have to be joking! To scratch build a vehicle out of metal puts you in a class by yourself. Take a good look at most of the vehicles on this forum and you will see very few all metal vehicles. Most are made from plastic with the exception of the construction equipment. Your truck is right up there with some of the best. How many guys make there own driveshafts and axles? Very, very few!!

yay!!!!!!!!!!another 1/10th builder lol sorry guys theats just the scale i build in to me it is so much easyer more room and wow on your model skills you have me beat i haven't tried to make my own diffs or drive shafts yet i am bad about lookin around to see what will fit but yea that is one awsome built truck and it is scaled to my dozer nice work

Welcome and there is no need to be shy about your building skills - they are fine! Always good to see different brands and eras represented. Nice work and keep it coming.
