RC Cranes

Hi Everyone,

Let me preface this by saying I know little to nothing about RC vehicles. Somehow came along some videos on YouTube and was amazed at how realistic and well engineered some of these machines are.

My question is do any of you know where to buy, or who can make (and at what cost) a mobile RC crane? Here are some links to a couple of videos that show the type of crane I would love to have.

Absolutely any information would be appreciated!

Re: RC Cranes

Hi and welcome to the hobby! If I am not mistaken those crane trucks are one off machines created by skilled hobbyist/craftsmen. I am not aware of a company which makes these so the cost for one would be astronomical since they are one offs (probably close to $10,000). However that being said you can always buy a Tamiya Semi truck kit and retro fit it with a Bruder Crane truck. You can have the booms and winches work on micro gear motors, etc. I actually just built one for my son this way and it is remarkably functional, scale in appearance and heaps cheaper...with a new tamiya kit and misc parts I am close to $900-1,000.

Re: RC Cranes

video ones are a one-off build like stated above. lots and lots of time and money and brain scratching to get them how they are in those videos.

now a dirt cheap version that will get you going for now until you get the bug really bad is a toy version made by Hobby Engine. could always use it to base a build off of.

You might want to check out the modelltruccks.net forum, as the Europeans have some interesting builds, and a dedicated section for cranes...

As stated above, the cranes do not appear to be cheap or easy to build... But they aren't impossible either.

Cheers,
Ap
