Any Kansas shows for 2017?

It's been a couple of years since the last Kansas show, is there any interest for having a Kansas Show in 2017?

OR, for that matter, ANYWHERE in the High Plains area of WY,CO,NE,KS,OK ?
How many members do you think there are, within the High Plains district?

Would be nice to NOT have to travel East of the Mississippi for a show…

I like that idea of space at a Hanger for a show - both indoor and outdoor accommodations.
Anyone in the High Plains Dist. have connections at a private airport?

Just looking to stir up some interest in operating the equipment…

I live in NE Kansas and would be interested in attending. I went to Newton Ks. last year and was the only one there. Later in the summer I also went to the Beattie Ks. truck show, still the only one there. Both shows were a lot of fun, but I would like to go to an actual RC show.

I live in NE Kansas also. Currently putting my truck back together and would also like to see something get going. I know the guy who put on the Newton show, I can see if he is willing to get something going again. Also Mike, I never thought of the Beattie deal, that might be an opportunity to do some more stuff. If I can catch Ben stopped, I will ask him if they are willing to let us participate, maybe we can get something bigger going.

The one in Newton is an ATHS show at the Newell truck stop. The other one is just a local show combined with the Beattie Milo Fest.

Re: Any Kansas shows for 2017?

Both shows are actually truck shows, one day events. If we were wanting to come up with a 2 - 3 day event we would have to do that on our own. The Newton show is in April, it is a real tossup to the weather. (Last one they had we were in a Tornado warning for part of the day.) Beattie is in August, good chance it will be hot and dry that day. If we were wanting to have a longer event, I'm 95% sure I can get us a good sized indoor venue that we would have all to ourselves. It would be located in Marysville, Kansas. Concrete floor, A/C with onsite facilities available.

So the question would be, how many would be willing to come to a centralized location for a RC Truck / Construction only event? With the Indiana event happening in the Spring, would a late Summer / early Fall time work out better?

EVERYONE, give your opinion. I would put in the effort locally to further our hobby in this area, and possibly provide another big event.

I'd go to Marysville, with equipment!
Late Summer early Fall would be real good scheduling wise and weather wise.
Does it matter if the kids are in, or out of school??

I think you ought to start a new Marysville thread here on Central Plains and on a more general page for better exposure.

Re: Any Kansas shows for 2017?

Looking at what goes on in the "area", we have the following events:

The Lebanon Show (Indy Replacement) is late April
Midwest Spring Meet is Late May
The GBATS is Late September
Midwest Fall Meet is Late October

So to me, the best time seems to be late July. At this point, it looks like it would probably be a 2018 show. I would have to get the venue lined up, and since I would be starting from scratch, it will take me some time to get things built up and collected to have a good time.

There is no event tied to this, it would be a RCT&C only thing. We could even make it a private event if so desired. Additionally there would be no big cost to participants. I may ask for donations, or charge $10 max just to help cover the cost of the place. You would be on your own for meals as of right now. That could change as we work toward details if the interest peaks up. I would like to be able to draw people that would attend the Indy events. Keep providing feedback, and let me know your interest.

I would like to find a Show that is West of the Mississippi, East of the Rockies.
But it doesn't look like much interest here…

Hope you can get something going in Marysville someday.

The Gbats is pretty fun. Real rigs, lets you get to talk to the owners and get ideas for trucks and designs. Go downtown at night all light up and show off. Chance to win trophies also

I'm looking for more of an RC operating/run show, not just display.
