Bucyrus 495 hr
Does anyone have the instructions or know how to attach rope lines for the bucket on a Bucyrus 495HR shovel?

I think shovels and draglines use the same method. A series of clamps on each side of the drums. Look on threads on this forum and find interior views of draglines and look for close ups of the drums with the cables attached. I have seen them but do not remember which thread. I don't remember seeing any close up shots of shovels. Are you building a scale model? Also look at "stripmine.org". Lots of pics of draglines but you will have to do a lot of searching or maybe google interior pics of shovels and draglines. Good luck

Re: Bucyrus 495 hr
Looking at my 1:50 model it appears that the two hoist ropes attach to the hoist drums (One continuous Rope) for each side. The two sheaves on the dipper bail just equalize the rope back to the drums. On the drums there are wedges to dead end to them. I would imagine there is a way to adjust the two so there is equal pull both sides.
I am not to familiar with how the 495 is built internally. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/8577/lyTNfA.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/5379/Lo7dPb.jpg |

Long time.... Thanks for the information. Both Kenny and I have tried to figure it out as he is trying to rebuild one we have. Kenny is referencing the White gear and grey cables. This is to control the bucket. John |
