Meaning of 'RTR', China vs rest of the world

Just thinking about it here the other day, when receiving a new excavator from China, advertised as 'RTR'. We normaly think of 'RTR' as 'Ready to Run'; connect the batteries, turn it 'on', and start digging. Well, when it comes to much of the Chinese stuff, 'RTR' actually means 'Ready to Repair'. 'Be happy, here, we supply you all parts, now you repair it'. ;)
When that being said, the things are getting better and better, but there are still usually always those small details one need to adjust to actually make things run when it comes to hydraulic RC equipment.

I have this train of thought with any RTR. It's harder to find r/c kits these days so you have to do a complete break down on an "RTR" vehicle anyways to make sure all is right and assembled appropriately by the 8 year old in Shanghai. I've bought around 20 "RTR" vehicles (various r/c's) and can't remember a single one that ran to standards out of the box, you at the least have to tighten some screws and check gear mesh.

Taken right off the RC4WD site "While some components may come assembled, it may be in your best interests to check the products to ensure all hardware is tight. In some cases you may want to apply threadlock to some of the hardware that is already installed." In order words like Benny said your best off going through/ testing the entire rc to make sure things are working properly as they should.
