i've got 2, going for a street rod look with one and an old international with the other. google research reveals the Zis actually is a 47 international.... amazing detail for an amazing price, opening doors, hood etc...

here's the first mockup on a trail finder chassis, going to use a pumpkin bed with another set of front fenders grafted on

the stock bed will make a great landscape trailer

Nice! Much to the cab assembly? I'm going the not scale approach and may put it on a CC-01.

no, went together pretty smooth, had a small issue where the instructions showed the hood assembly backwards, but emailed the seller and they said they would fix the misprint

Tammy pumpkin bed?

Would it fit on a king hauler chassis ?

bigdogrod 06-01-2017 09:56 AM

Re: Soviet ZiS 150 cab and bed

yeah, those are king hauler wheels on the front, rc4wd lo pros on the rear. it's 12'th scale so it might look a bit off next to a tamiya semi, that's the next project...

Mine came in today. Very nice packaging and well shipped. Mine may be ear marked on a CC-01 for a retro Dakar truck. Instead of this sissy energy drink all over it, it'll have pouch tobacco, hair tonic, etc sponsors from the era...he he. Grabbed the preassembled bed too. It's nice as well, though geared towards a 6x6 with it's size.

Not yet. Still deciding how I want to go with it and what colors.

I also ordered the Cab and deck, great quality!!! Spoke with the seller and he said watch out for more models :-)

Look forward to more pics on this build...

Right on. Yea, looks like they will be a cool company to keep an eye on. Right now I'm still thinking of doing a retro Dakar truck on a CC-01 chassis I have laying around. Cream/brown cab with a brown flat bed with old school logos for advertising. I decided to go the trailer route with the bed. Have an old 1/8 dirtbike trailer I'm going to put it on and make it a dumper. Gotta hack up the C channel to shorten it a bit then extend the neck for a king pin. Throw in a screw drive/esc and a pivot and call it a day.

CC-01 chassis isn't going to work, too small. Going to look at other options.

Here's an interesting thread on a scratchbuilt ZIL-157, if you haven't already seen it.
http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/multi...spiration.html

Thank you for starting this thread. I ordered the cab and bed, but am not sure if I want to build it as a cargo version, or just use the cab for a tractor version. Trumpeter has that 1/35 SA-2 Guideline kit that uses this cab, but I am certainly not willing to build the trailer and missile for THAT!

There is also the AT-T prime mover that uses a cab similar to this one. Looks like it has an extra front window and different grill, (and also I don't have a spare Hooben T-55 to mount it on). Sure is an intriguing thought, though. -Mike

Hey Mike, it's me Bret (same thebennyb from RCU tank forum.) I'm still trying to figure out what chassis I'm going to put the cab on. Don't really want to buy a chassis just for a body but looks like that may be the only route. Looking at trail finder 2 long wheel base. Hoping I can find a used one somewhere.

Re: Soviet ZiS 150 cab and bed

Hey Bret. Yeah, I think three's a few of us who haunt the same forums. I was thinking about using an Axial SCX-10 chassis, (only because I have one that I didn't use for anything else), but I won't know if it'll fit until the cab & bed get here. Wheelbase on this is 11 inches, and inside & outside measurement of tires is 6 and 9 inches. It may be that if the width on this is okay; I'll have to stretch the length a bit. I really wanted to lean towards more of a scale suspension rather than a 4-link type, but am thinking that I may just have to go with whatever fits best. -Mike

Re: Soviet ZiS 150 cab and bed

I think the SCX10 will be too wide. I was leaning towards Tamiya truck rails?

I got mine and started to paint it. Sticking to original military green.

Re: Soviet ZiS 150 cab and bed

Jack, did you assemble then paint or paint as you went during assembly? I can't decide how I want to approach this sucker. Detailed interior or not. Hate to assemble then have to mask small area's to paint, door panels/hood and such.

TheBennyB 07-20-2017 12:24 AM

Re: Soviet ZiS 150 cab and bed

Yup, SCX10 will be too wide. Also if you have the battery/ESC up front it wont fit over it.
Really, unless you have a flat footprint with no obstructions this cab is a toughy without cutting it up.
