Case 1470

I recently started working on converting a bruder claas xerion to RC but after starting I decided being from the Midwest I wanted to build something that I would see working in my area. That's when I thought a 1470 would be perfect and something different that no one else has done before. I'm using a 1/16th scale redcat racing Everest crawler as a parts donor and have upgraded it to a cheaper 6 channel remote.

this I what im hoping it will look like when its done.

My progress so far. The wheel base is right at 6.5 inches which is almost perfect for 1/16th scale.

An under view of the frame. I cut up an old wire rack from a pot holder that my grandma was going to throw away for the main frame and attached balsa to it. Then I drilled holes in the balsa and used the factory holes and screws for the axle guards to attach the axles

Even have the front suspension done

Re: Case 1470

Got a little more work done today. The motor is mounted and it drives now.

I had to move the front axle forward about a half inch to get the motor to fit in. I couldn't get the drive shafts short enough to keep the shorter wheel base.

I also got started on the hood as well. I attached the battery holder from the stock truck underneath the hood, which should hide the battery pretty well once its done.

Looks great these were awesome tractors but really any Case is awesome. Was that pick taken at the show at the Earlvill Speedway tractor and Semi Truck show last year??

Thanks. Hopefully it will turn out okay. And I'm not sure where the picture was taken. I just grabbed the photo off of google as an example.

Re: Case 1470

After a long week of mid terms for my college ag classes I was finally able to get a little work done on the Case today.

I finally finished up the hood and it hides the battery very well. The bottom of the battery is about 1/8th of an inch above the sides of the hood. and as you can see from the plug in the picture, the battery is sitting in there.

I also got started on the fenders and operator platform.

I also trimmed off the excess metal on the frame as well. Im hoping to get a lot more work done on it this weekend

Coming along nicely!

Any implements in mind?

Re: Case 1470

Thanks. I do plan on making quite a few implements in the future. Mostly tillage equipment and possibly a few construction pieces, like a small pan scraper and a sheepsfoot roler.
but my first two will probably be a dozer blade and pull type disc ripper like this.

and eventually I would like to do a functioning pull type combine like this one.

Re: Case 1470

After getting side tracked with the beginning of spring tillage on our farm this week, I managed to put in some build time today.

It's finally looking like a tractor. I still need to add a few pieces in front of the front fenders and build the steering column. Other than that it should be ready to sand and paint. Hopefully I'll have it done and running by the end of the week.

Re: Case 1470

She's forming up nicely!

With the work this tractor might be doing now is a good time to look into lowering the gearing, before the trans gets too buried.

I think a 15 is stock, so maybe a 12 or 13. I had two of these Exceed mini crawlers and they used Loctite on the grub screws so use a fresh hex tool.

This and a better steering servo like a hitec 645mg

Re: Case 1470

Those are both good ideas. Where would I find these gears for the transmission? Right now I'm focusing on getting it functional but I do plan to regear it in the near future. I think I can solve the issue of accessing the transmission once it's done though. My plan is that from the front fender to the back end of the tractor will be mounted on a hinge at the very back of the tractor. This way it can be flipped back for easy access to the drive train, should I have any issues or want to upgrade parts. The hood will also hinge forward to give me easy access to the battery pack

Re: Case 1470

Ive got all the body work done now. Just waiting for the paint to dry. I should be able to start putting it back together tonight.

I finally got it put back together last night and managed to get a couple of videos of it running. I still need to add detail parts before its completely done.
