New to RC bit have had a rollback build in mind

I had gotten botten by the RC bug after watching a YouTube video on a screw drive Ford Rollback wrecker. I had started doing research on making my own, and seeing some of the awesome creations here, I am finally getting the nerve to post about it.

I want to use the Tamaya Aeromax body and go full hydraulic on mine. I am also looking at making it with a functional wheel lift at the tail.

I have done many static models, kitbashes, and HO Rail work, but this would be my first RC and I am almost at a loss as to where to start.

I already found the hydraulic pistons I would need, but really don't want to buy a brand new $2000 model just to "destroy" it.

I am looking for input from the more seasoned builders for help in starting this project.
