MATS Mid-America Trucking Show

This is torture - the Mid-America Trucking Show is here - in town - and I cannot attend !!!!

This is from their FAQ:
In order to attend MATS you must be a member of/employed within the heavy-duty trucking industry and be registered as an Attendee.

So, because I am not a member of or employed within the heavy-duty trucking industry I can not attend. Apparently people who are just INTERESTED in trucking are not allowed.

I have been trying to figure out a way to get in because I really wanted to see the Beauty Championship and get some photos for some ideas. I was prepared to spend a Saturday geeking out (that's what my wife calls it) on big rigs, instead it looks like I will be cleaning the garage. Thanks MATS! Thanks for nothing!

OK - I will check their website after the weekend for the beauty contest winners...

Thanks for listening (reading?)

I am in IT - I manage the global outsourcing partners of a mid-sized chemical company. My friends are mostly in the computer field. I really do not know anyone 'in the business'. What is frustrating though is MATS exclusion of the general public. There is an entrance fee. If I pay my money, why should they care if I am in the industry or just a fan? Is there some industry secret being revealed? Oh well.

|On-line Attendee Registration for the 2011 Mid-America Trucking Show is now closed. You can still purchase tickets at the door for $10 each and, with a completed ticket, have a badge printed which will give you access to all 3 days of the show.|

so can you not sign up at the door?

I really don't think that you need to be a driver. I went down two times in 2004 and 05 I had a coupon for a free ticket and got in. I don't seem to remember them asking for a license to verify a CDL. Although at the time I had my own trucking company and did in fact drive. I would try and see what happens. I feel they put that disclaimer out there so they don't get the entire outside public coming in and having all that fun!

Haha....I apologize but I have to chuckle a little bit at this one.:D

They don't do a background check at the door guys.

Just fill out the short little form they give you if you don't already have a pre-registered ticket when you walk in.....put down your name (heck use an alias if you prefer, have fun with it). Then just fill in some fictitious BS about what company you work for, how many rigs are in your fleet, what type of commodities you haul, then what position, etc. such as Mechanic, Driver.

After that hand your info over to one of the folks working the computers and after a little bit of technical magic a nifty little name badge and laminated holder will appear from behind the scenes.....and no lie detector test either, LOL.:D

Heck the first year I went I was a 19 year old trucking tycoon....owner of S&W Ag Transport. Didn't even exist and still doesn't....well not for a few years anyhow, LOL.

Have fun at the show....won't be able to attend this year myself but hope that all who do enjoy themselves. Tell the girls at the Hooters booth I said hi will ya!:D

hey where are the pix?

Re: MATS Mid-America Trucking Show

Well I need to find an open source program to do a batch conversion of the size - I used the 'good camera' so they are all 3+MB and 3888 X 2592 pixels - a bit too big to upload anywhere. I will find someway to automate cutting down on the size and then find somewhere to stick them. Lots of them are detail photos of things I want to do to my trucks so I will not post them - only the full trucks. And, I kind of stuck to Pete's cause that is what I want to build. I will get them posted as soon as I can.

You can use photobucket and it will upload them and save them in the right size. You can set that in upload options where you can set it to upload them in 640 X 480. Here are the steps to get there. highlight your name and there is a drop down menu left click account settings and in account settings left click Album settings then look for View my upload options left click on that and you will be able to set the size of the pic that it will be when it is uploaded.

Re: MATS Mid-America Trucking Show

I downloaded something called PhotoResize400 and scaled them all down to 1024X768 - is that too big? I can do 640X480 if that is preferred - currently they are all around 80k in size.

640 X 480 is better for posting pics it doesn't take someone so long for a page to load. With high speed Internet it is not a big deal but for those who don't have it will probably give up on it loading or the pics will take to long to load and just not show up for them. Like I said photobucket will re size them for you when you upload them and save you a lot of time doing it before you upload them.
