Kenworth Dump

What to do, what to do...

Looking for some input about building a kenworth 3-axle dump like the ones we have up here for the highways dept. See the picture below:

I don't have a tonne of free time lately but I have enough to tinker so I thought it would be best to start with a Tamiya kit and go form there. I am wondering which option you guys think would be best before I pull the trigger and order a kit:

1. Grand Hauler - chop off the sleep, add an axle and a dump bed and be one my way. Cab is pretty different from that kenworth though...

2. Knight Hauler - chop off sleeper, extend chassis, add axle and dump bed. I think this will look a little more similiar?

3. Custom chassis build based on one of the above mentioned bodies?

4. Other?

Any other input would be great!! :D

Basically I don't realllly know where to begin. Once I've got a selection ill start modelling it all in CAD and design the details :bounce:

EDIT: Forgot to add that I am also pondering making this a hook lift truck, so I can put whatever style if bed on that I would like in the future.

Re: Kenworth Dump

Me personally, I'd go with the King Hauler.

In my experience the Grand Haulers DON'T have as much articulation in the drive wheels/axles do the KH.

Re: Kenworth Dump

shapeways has a t800 nose. since it looks like you are going to use mostly aftermarket stuff anyway, it might be easier to get a new set of framerails and build from there. if you get it done in cad can you output it to a stl file? i'd trade some parts for a good 3d model
