That's definitely hardcore, He needs a pedestal that will rise up a couple feet!
Cheers, Neil.

All it needs is some FPV goggles and video in the cabin and you're set!!! that's my dream.

A guy on the island here has a 1/12 scale hydraulic log loader set up with pilot controls like that. It is mounted on a trailer with the plumbing running to a power steering pump so I guess it isn't completely an RC but very cool none the less.

I'd say if you want something like this to get you where you'd use the excavator (not a table top) and make it mobile, a good used all terrain wheel chair would be a good base to sart with;).

I'm afraid I can't compete with the comfy seat... ;)

Jens major props to you! Nicely done.

Re: Check out this radio for an RC excavator!

Thank you!

It was much easier than I thought and also much more tedious. All that manual crimping of servo plugs for the potentiometers. *rolls eyes*
If I had known that before, I would probably have paid the (rather hefty) price for a crimping tool...

Apart from that, I think it's a really worthwhile modification for those who want to operate many functions or get just a bit closer to the 1:1 machine.

You are home schooled!! I have seen educational classes for big draglines that an operator sits in chair while operating a model. Those teachers have fun at work!!!

If I may ask, where did you get the joysticks?

Re: Check out this radio for an RC excavator!

Thanks folks! :)

Dieselchopper, I assume you mean my radio: These are modified computer joysticks for flight simulators. The black plastic is original and then I put on the white plastic extensions and extra switches/buttons.

Thanks for reply. That's what I have planned too.

Great!
Should you run into any problem, feel free to message me. :)
Not sure whether I can help, but surely am willing, there are not enough custom radios in this hobby!

JensR this is by far one of the most ingenious radio conversions I have seen! Kudos to you my friend..... would you be willing to make more for sale?

You can also use PC interface with your radio. The system below allows you to plug in joysticks to your laptop which through the interface will control your radio signals.

Re: Check out this radio for an RC excavator!

Thanks Exclusive RC! As I said, it's not really difficult, just tedious. I'm sure you could do it yourself!

Motocrawler, that is pretty neat! But you'd need something to map your USB and keyboard inputs to the software. Plus 9 Channels isn't *that* much. However, the price is fair and it's definitely an option. Maybe pair it with a Raspberry Pi for a smaller form factor? Not sure if that would be possible, though...
