Liebherr R956 made by Premacon

Good morning folks,
it´s been a while but I´d like to show you what I´ve been working on the past months. You might have followed the R956 on the internet. I´ve had the honour to build the first assembly-kit before final production. It could be called "beta-testing".

As you can guess according to the colours of my modells there is a business-background to the construction fleet. The company wished for another excavator, so here it is...

and a video of the first test of the setup.

The model itself is outstanding. Frank´s love to details is shown in every part of the excavator. The assembly is possible with the right ammount of background in building a model.

Congratulations Ulrich, it must be quite an honor to be noted for your building talent & chosen for a beta product tester of one of the more prominent companies dedicated to our hobby. Your work looks awesome as always, great job.

What is the ground level reach of this 956 Liebherr?

Will you be building the 960 front shovel any time soon?

Hi Joe,
nice reading from you. Everything´s ok?

As I wrote Glass Construction wanted a new Model-Excavator. Between the company and myself there are several connections. We had to decide between the "almost available" Liebherr R956 and the "in stock" Komatsu PC490. Frank and I, beeing total Liebherr nerds, put our heads together and decided to give it a shot.

The kit itself is perfectly designed, the main obstacles were the (then) missing manual and some pre-production bugs. So yeah, I´m really happy I was able to gain the experience of building this model. We´ve had a lot of contact and discussions that will help me with future projects.

Beeing the 4th excavator in the fleet, there will be no further purchase in that area. I´ve got to finish the wheeled one first. The front-shovel is therefore not an option. I think we´ve reached the end of the road, as 8 models are already hard to handle for the events. Sorry.

I´ll meassure the reach and get back at you as soon as possible.

bye
Ulrich

I built a new workshop in the last yr, a toasty warm area with lots of space to build new projects & make repairs on many old models too. Life is good.

Yeah right  famous last words. 2 - 3yrs from now you'll have something new to show off. :D

The many vids I've watched of the 956, it looks like a heavy brute with some serious digging power behind it... now get busy wearing the paint off some buckets!

Awesome model! I saw your build on the modell baustelle site. That's great that you posted here as well because I had to translate everything.
I'm planning on buying one too in the near future. Watching a close eye on the euro as it's falling.

Yeah, I saw that on here and on youtube. Congrats. If I rember correctly you put 2 inches insulation in the outside wall. Over here the minimum is 5-6inches nowadays. ;-)

Well it´s just the cooperation with Glass. I want to built something "not green" :D

check! Got 3 4,5ah batteries empty this weekend. ;-) Also I worked on another bucket - pics will follow. With this bucket you can bury a regular lorry.

Hi folks,
Frank got the assembly manual online. He did a very good job on this one as well es the model.

http://www.premacon.com/index.php/se...bauanleitungen

It takes some background to build the model. But it´s worth it.

Nice!! I really like first person view. When I had a CAT excavator I also made an FPV video. http://youtu.be/WpCEeMp_ayk

Thanks for posting up a link to the instruction manual too.

What is the ground level reach of this 956 Liebherr?

And what is the diameter of the plumbing & cyl bores?

Ulrich 01-27-2015 03:02 PM

Re: Liebherr R956 made by Premacon

The maximum ground level is 540mm.
All connections are m5 except the ones from the quick coupler. They're 3mm.

Re: Liebherr R956 made by Premacon

540mm  how did you measure that?

The ol' Stahl is 640mm & the Fumotec is 850mm.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ps8vhjy9qx.jpg

So that is m5 thread? ... I was wondering what hose ID was?

Ulrich 01-27-2015 04:34 PM

Re: Liebherr R956 made by Premacon

I mixed this one up. 540mm is digging depth.

Re: Liebherr R956 made by Premacon

I think Joe is referring to the center rotation axis to the tip of the bucket at maximum reach on flat ground.

Ulrich 01-28-2015 01:45 PM

Re: Liebherr R956 made by Premacon

Got that from the pic. I'll measure that as sonore as possible.
Bye
Ulrich
