Cabin Fever Show Discussion: Jan 14

Looks like a full schedule rod! the Cabin Fever deal looks pretty cool! I might try and go, we'll see.:cool:. It also seems that the ECLC show got pushed back a couple weeks? Because of the rain undoubtedly. Looking forward to another great year!

I need some info on how much space the road trucks will be needing at Cabin Fever. I will relay this to the Cabin Fever staff ASAP. I have ample room already for the giant dirt pile. Also about how many tables do we need?

I made my reservations today at the Holiday Inn. All the motels listed on their site have reduced rates if you tell them you're with The Cabin Fever Expo. I still would like to know about how much room the road trucks need and qty of tables.
Would 20'x50' be enough space? There's a group of guys with the "Ride On" sized trains there that set up beside my dragline and I want to be sure we have enough space before they set up their track.

Steve,

I missed this question, I apologize. I don't know how much of the city we will be bringing, so I can't completely give you an idea on the size of the space. Typically, we use a 40x30 space at the firehall in Brookville, not counting the pit and tables. As we wont be bringing a majority of the city, we shouldn't need too much space.

As for tables, 6 or 8 seem good if we get the guys who have said they are coming. As with most things in January, I'm sure it will depend on the weather! :cool:

That much space won't be a problem. With the dirt pile we should have about 60'- 70' long area to work with. Last year our dirt was a bit dry around the edges so if this happens this year we could water it down some and tamp it solid for some haul roads for the trucks to connect to your roads on the concrete. If you need some help hauling the bridge or what ever, I have my new 16'x7' enclosed trailer to haul some of that stuff. I may go on Thursday to get the area roped off and make sure we have at least 8 tables with some chairs.
It's going to take more than weather to stop me from going. Usually it's wet salt going over the mountains on the turnpike and drys up after the last tunnel before Newville in my experience.

See link:http://www.cabinfeverexpo.com/

A question has come to my attention;
Can we sell parts for sale on our tables?
Answer: NO
The only way to sell there is to buy a vendor space, or use the free consignment area, and the show gets a percentage of your sale (if sold).
What you do outside is your business.;)

I like the rules, If they didn't enforce them the whole show would turn into a big flea market like most gas engine shows.

This show is the best in the country for scale model engineering and is set up so the public can view peoples creations in the center of the arena and all the vendors are on the perimeter of the building selling: parts, kits, tools,raw materials that are related to our hobby of machining or building working scale models . There is definitely no buddy selling velvet Elvis's and swords:rolleyes:

If you belonged to the New England Model Engineering Society you could catch a ride on their tour bus. The club charters a full bus load every year to bring all the old guys and wives who won't drive down.
