Gearmotor problems
 

Ok I am killing the motors on my gearmotors on my dozer! It's more then strong enough but it seems that only the motor does! These motors are 370 brushed I`m getting these motors from Amazon they are 100rpm 12v worm gear 90. Motors. I just seem not to have any luck with them I just bought two Monday and now both are dead! The gear box is fine but the motor wont turn. I dont understand why they stop if you take them apart it looks fine . I dont know help! Any ideas to fix the problem I can't keep buying motors every other week !

Will the motor work if you take it out of the gear box..??... might be a bound up gear...if it is bad...Try just replacing the motor, get a 370 or 380 motor...pull the gear off the bad motor, cut the shaft on the new motor to the same length as the old motor ...use a small "C" clamp and press the gear on the new motor and put it back together...

Perhaps a stupid question, but does the motor have air holes in it? I had a Bruder D10 that I converted, & kept burning motors. The motors didn't have air ventilation holes. As the motor ran & got hot, it just fried the motors.

How many volts and amps is the motor rated at?
How many amps on the esc running it?

Do they seem to operate kinda close to a no-load speed in the model? Is the motor struggling to come up to speed or seem to be cogging?

If they are getting hot, Do you have room to install motor heatsinks like for racing? Maybe cooling fans?

Have you tried letting the motors break-in first at no load for a while to seat brushes and wear in the gears some before having them do work?

The motors are stupid strong in the dozer, they push the thing like it dosent even feel its weight. The esc is a Hobbywing QUICRUN 1060 Brushed ESC Waterproof / Speed Control 60amp and the motors are Rf 370 motors 6-12v . And the gearmotor are 100 rpm high torque 90' worm gear. I dont know I just killed the last two arge , this what kills me I do everything like everyone else but my model f,s up. I'm tired of spending money on these things just to get a hour of play out of them, this hobby can't be like this

I know some 90 deg angle boxes don't tolerate abrupt stop/starts.

Can you open them up and grab pics so we can help figure out what went wrong?

Well the gearbox is fine I burn out the motor ....... they are rk370 motors I thought I'd just replace the motors witch I did and within two days I killed the motors, I can't get more then a month out of them

So what would happen if I change the brushed motors to brushless? Besides being faster would it be strong enough?

Cheap and probably not the highest quality, but just what I needed to do the job. Lots of power and easy rev up.

Like someone said above, the worm gear thing doesn't seem to sit well with a lot of "Stop and Start" kind of things.

Is less voltage than the ESC calls for, but the motor run nicely on them. For a dozer, you really are not looking for speed (at least in my case) and the 30C rate "LiFe" battery is just perfect. It keeps the dozer going for well over 45 minutes without missing a beat or motor overheating that I could tell.
Heck, I had to use about 3 pounds of scrap metal to make the dozer heavier cause the tracks were spinning a first sign of resistance from the blade.

Any way, that was my rant for the day!

Ya I think I will have to try something new
