Bruder excavator

Seeing as i can post pics now , i will show my Bruder conversion. If memory serves me right this was one of the very first conversions out there and the first to use Firgelli linear actuators. I started by cutting off all the mounts and simulated hoses on the boom. From there i had to re-shape parts of the boom where the actuators would mount.

Holes and openings on the boom where toy handles used to be needed covering, and pieces of copper tube was added for the simulated hydraulic hoses to run through.

Re: Bruder excavator

The tracks run on converted servos to run 360 and the body rotates using a 360 converted servo as well. The actuators are more than powerful enough. The finished product wearing a coat of authentic Cat yellow.

Re: Bruder excavator

This build and my King Hauler were built with nothing more than a hacksaw blade ( no handle ) a utility knife, sandpaper, screwdrivers, pliers , JB weld and a file handed down from my grandfather that looks like it was made in the 1800's. So you don't have to have expensive tools to make this stuff..... but my hands will tell you otherwise.

One of the better looking BRUDER excavator conversions that I've seen!

That turned out pretty good for a sawdust digger.

What stroke/ratio are the actuators?

Looks goood! Do you have pics of the main boom completed? How does it do digging? I was seriously entertaining the thought of converting one of them, & then RC4DW had the huge Black Friday sales event, & I just had to get a 4200 for them prices.

Hey Joe, i did a lot of research and found that what i needed for an excavator was L12-100-100-6-R actuators. They have good power and travel length.

I can take pics for you of any particular part you want to see and email them to you if you like, just send me a private message .
It worked very well, but the radio i had was set up all wrong and thus it was very difficult to operate. I have a couple videos but they are painful to watch

Re: Bruder excavator

IF I'm seeing it correctly, it appears that the 2 main boom lift actuators, & the jib boom actuators are connected at a common connection point?

Re: Bruder excavator

Are there wires run inside the hydraulic lines or the lines just for show?

looks great!!!!!

bigpipespete 01-25-2018 05:20 PM

Re: Bruder excavator

The hydraulic lines were made from 12 gage wire , strictly for looks. The actuator wiring is run inside the boom. Thanks for the comment.
