Bezel warning!!!

DO NOT USE ANY TYPE OF CA KICKER OR ACCELERATOR TO GLUE THE LENSE INTO A BEZEL!!! The lense will melt as if you put acetone on them. I found out the hard way:( If you need to make the CA harden faster or to try to fill a gap, use baking soda. It will instantly harden the CA. This is an old modeler's trick. It came from a master model builder.

I try to make the bezels a very tight fit around the lense but due to a lack of tight quality control of the lenses. I get a loose fit every now and then.

I do not glue the lenses in for the most part. I try to make the lenses a very tight fit in the bezels. Every now and then I get some of the lenses with very bad quality control issues that are smaller than what I turn the bezels to. This requires that I either make new bezels or I glue them in. I would say that this happens maybe 1 out of every 200 lenses. Mostly I make new bezels for a specific color of lens. Injection molding QC is not what I think it should be:eek: I think that I have had to glue maybe 5 or 6 lenses in out of the 2000 bezels that I have made. Now you can see why they take me so long to make:eek::eek:

Lynn, you make a quality product, and it shows. I only asked about the glue out of curiousity. I saw no signs of glue on my bezels. I am very happy with the bezels. They are awesome. I'd like to order some more, someday! But my order should hold me over, for a little while. Thanks!

Thanks for the compliment, Nathan. Most of the bezels that don't fit correctly never make it out of my shop unless it is on 1 of my own trucks that I use as a test subject. As with all of the projects-parts- I make, I won't send someone a part that I would not put on 1 of my own trucks. I quess 25 years as a machinist making orthopedic products has made me into a rivet counter( perfectionist) when it comes to things I make.:D
