Tamiyaico? Frieghtliner?

Well I have been slowly building up wedico parts over the years and I have always liked there Frightliner cabs so I started digging parts out of the parts boxes and got started..

Started with a stock 19 3/4 wedico chassis.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...175420_074.jpg

And mocked up some KH steps and tanks as they are frieghtliner tanks and steps any ways and I want to use as many parts out of the boxes in the shop as I can.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...193002_234.jpg

Well then I did not like the wedico chassis so I built and new longer one out of blank rail and tamiya cross members and it looked much better.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...210623_906.jpg

Well then the stock wedico wheels and tires were bugging me so they had to go so I made some new spacers and mounted stock tamiya wheels and Verik low pros.

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...220340_140.jpg

I tried stock tires but I like the lowered look better..
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...175907_576.jpg

So then I took nylon round stock and made wheel spacer adapters to use the tamiya wheels on wedico drives.

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cks/008-12.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...icks/007-9.jpg

Side by side comparison.... wedico looses this round..:D
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cks/009-14.jpg

New stance low and lean looking..
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...icks/010-8.jpg

Now cab and sleeper mounted and the over sized phillips screws in the cab and sleeper have been replaced with nice low pro button head ones. Also you can see I have removed all the decals and well the powder coat on the hood came with then in sheets.. Grrrr:mad:

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...0Picks/109.jpg

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...0Picks/110.jpg

That is it for now.. Now to dig into the parts boxes and find a tranny probly a R2 I think and a 55 turn..

Thanks Mojave...

Well I decided to go dual purpose with this truck I have it set up so it has a tamiya 5th wheel plate under the the wrecker deck take off 4 screws and unplug two wires and you have a normal truck again..

I am having a tuff time on what color to go with I thought about red to match the bed but it is not a very good color of red I have thought about silver and get some old school strips in water slide decals??? Just not sure right now but here she sits what do you think..

Well changed the Tamiyaco back to a normal truck and its just about reaady to go to paint but here is what I have done..

Got the R2 mounted up.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...boy021/004.jpg

Took a Tamiya F350 drive shaft and welded in some shaft then welded a 1/8 alenwrench key on the end and covered it with some alum tubing..
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...boy022/015.jpg

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...boy/001-58.jpg

Stock tanks mounted the right height.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...boy021/003.jpg

And mounted flaps..
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...boy/002-60.jpg

Still have to mount the servo and make the front bumper out of alum and it will be off to paint this week..

Re: Tamiyaico? Frieghtliner?

Well been building in my closet again forgetting to post pictures on a few builds but I have picks on this truck..

Got the body painted a old school off white..
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...boy023/005.jpg

And painted the frame a Harley Root Beer Brown color with alot of gold flake in it..
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...boy023/001.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...boy023/004.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...boy023/003.jpg

And since I wanted to stick with the using of stock parts I had a new set of King Hauler decals made in different colors.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...boy023/006.jpg

So here are the finished build picks.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...boy023/008.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...boy023/010.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...boy023/011.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...boy023/009.jpg

I think it came out pretty good for a bunch of left over parts..

Re: Tamiyaico? Frieghtliner?

Paul I must be honest and say that wedicos never impress me due to their unusual proportions and odd looking body lines. Something about them just looks off to me compaired to the real 1:1 trucks. But you really made this wedioc look awesome, I would own that wedico and be proud of it. The addition of the #tamiya parts really balanced it out and made it look great. You did a great job as usual Paul. You never seem to disappoint.....now what's up with you doing my k100 LoL:D:p

Re: Tamiyaico? Frieghtliner?

Ok been working on the trailer I got for the Tamiyaico. Made the wheel adapters so I can run tamiya wheels and low pros. Also I put some leftover mirror stainless on the nose and I have a old school Thremoking for the nose I just need to get finished up and then Im going to paint he sides a clean white with polished doors and a custom rear ICC drop and some lights in front of the wheels..
