New to tractor trailers

I've been reading this forum for a couple weeks as a guest and decided to join after pulling the trigger on a Grand Hauler and MFU. I'm definitely not new to models or R/C, but this will be my first go at a semi. My past R/C builds range from nitro and electric touring cars, nitro monster trucks, scale crawlers, and wooden plank-on-frame tug boats. Its getting harder and harder to find decent yet somewhat challenging kits out there and I've always been fascinated by the Tamiya semis. I take a little pride in having not yet bought a RTR or ARTR; what's the fun if you don't get to build it?

I am still working on figuring out which trailer I want to pull but I'll have some time. It has come down to flatbed or container. I'm leaning more towards the flatbed not just because its cheaper, but also for the versatility and the opportunity to create 1/14 scale loads to haul. In due time I'll likely end up with both since I really want to build a Globeliner as well.

COEs have a place in my heart since I used to be in awe of my dad's Freightliner when I was a little kid. I just found the pictures a couple days ago and will use them to get as close to it as possible. (I chose to do the Grand Hauler first since I learned long ago not to cut your teeth building what you really want first)

Yeah, in hindsight that makes sense. There are certainly some areas of my project I would have approached differently if I were to do them again.
Welcome to the forum!
