I did a little test on a spare piece using some the rust oleum blue i had. The finish of course came out really dull. So I hit it with some rustoleum clear. And this is the end result.

Seems like a nice kit with some major flaws. But in all looks like it is a great base kit to make it just right. Just think - if it were perfect out of the box then you would already be bored of it.

Bloody shame about the paint chipping of so readily.
For the rest starting to look like you're almost finished apart from sorting out the electrics. Where is the ESC, receiver etc. supposed to go in this model? |

I think i have the paint issue sorted out. Picked up some duplicolor etching primer and some blue that is pretty close to the tamiya blue. With the exception that its metal flake. Primer seems to be sticking pretty good. I primed and painted a test panel so we'll see after its cured. Wont be much for updates anytime soon as I have a lot of stripping and painting to do. Im also working out the details on LEDs and a controller. At least theres some light at the end of the tunnel.

Finally back at this. So after some monotonous scrubbing with lacquer thinner using rags and q-tips, Ive managed to strip a handful of the body panels.

Ken ended up sending me two replacement cowl peices, the first got bent just as bad as the first one, most likely during shipping. The second time he shipped it in a box. It was slightly bent, but not enough to where i couldnt massage it back into shape. All is good now! |

Small update today. I spent most of my available time today getting more paint laid down.

The mounting brackets are super weak and kind of crumbled away. 8-9 layers of paint! You have a lot more patience than I do! Like your LED set-up on the dash too! Guess you wire them into the headlights? |

Worst part is I hate painting.... Its coming out well though so im happy.
The Lighting setup on this is actually pretty complicated. The dash lights will operate with parking lights. This is going to have all the lights the 1:1 has and they will operate accordingly. Im even trying to figure out how to put a switch in the dash for a dome light....just need to figure something out. |

Havent done anymore spraying yet but, Ive decided to paint the fender flares body color. Started to mask them off.

They give you these nifty spark plug type things that secure the valve covers on, but no wires for them like Ive seen in some online pics. So.... Figured Id whip some up. Started by drilling some 1/8"x1/8" styrene. Its really been bugging me and I feel like it should have one. It doesnt make much sense to me to go all out and leave something like this out.
