Carson 3 Axle Tipper Trailer

Hi,

Im looking to to buy the Carson 3 Axle Tipper Trailer for a Tamiya truck. But once i fit the motor for the tipping mechanism how do i power it? Do i need another esc or is there somthing else i need?

Every ESC ive ever used before needs its own battery plugged onto it and wont just draw power though the receiver. What should i be using?

Thanks

great question! a furhter note for - if your doing a dump trailer, some put the esc in the trailer with the battery and just run a servo lead and others put the wcs in the truck and run motor wires to the trailer.....

Re: Carson 3 Axle Tipper Trailer

I used the support leg function on the Tamiya MFU to control my carson tipper using a seperate battery and ESC they are connected to the MFU via a 3mm headphone jack and socket with the red wire removed to stop any cross interferance between the ESC and MFU because the ESC I used has a BEC circuit and that was not needed to run the Tipper motor
I also built the trailer as a two axle one because it is a real pig to reverse because the wheel base is too short,

the red shrink wraped item is the ESC and the large coil of wire is for the the trailer lights

this shot shows the trailers connections to the tractor unit, just the black and white wires are needed to run the ESC

Thanks for the info and pics.

So if i just run the black and white wires from the ESC to the receiver that will be ok? They just deal with the signal? And the trailer can have its own battery pack that way and it wont be sending any power to the receiver.

I dont want to blow anything so just want to check and make sure.

I forgot to mention that I had fitted an on/off switch to the positive wire between the battery and ESC, you can see it by the left hand support leg in this picture
