VolVo EC300

it was year 2014 project for a nice friend. after done working on my PC200, meet a new friend, a very nice guy. he wanted an excavator but not the PC200 but for Volvo EC300 instead. he like the Volvo design very much. he keep asking me to design and fabricated it for him. but at that time i having another project for a 5 axle low bed. i ask him to wait till i m done with the low bed or pre-design the excavator on a sketch so that would ease some of my work when i m start off.
half a year pass by, i thought he would had gave up his EC300. but nope, he been keep waiting for my unoccupied time slot. here some of his work prepared for me.

the full assembly drawing
no much of the detail, as he told me that he will do the modification on the detailing later days. not a fussy guy to work with.

few weeks pass by, designing, dimensioning, final changes, altering the drawing,
finally the print out for fabrication. the production will need the help from my colleague, the laser cutting operator, bender, welder, finishing and coating.

stainless steel bucket as to prevent rust when the paint peeling off by time.
the welding work are not as perfect as i expecting. the junior welder use the wrong size of tungsten lead for fine welding. was hoping it turn out fine after powder coat

initial assembly of the body parts without hydraulic and electronic system.
no quit have it alive and sense of its spirit of a volvo yet as the exterior still smooth plain.
its just a moderate built, this model is not much compare to other great builders around. it least serve the objective

it was 2 hour drive to delivered it to his home.
i was surprised once i reach, he had those hydraulic ready pre-assembly, awaiting the structure to install on it, he really serious abt this stuff.
since it been 2 hour journey, i stay for awhile to help him with the installation. end up been there for whole day time.

Re: VolVo EC300

after a week, he fine tune the setting, had everything cover up.
it's his turn to drive 2 hours to my place, to try out the 1st dig at mini landscape that i prepared beside the house.
no much of a problem with his excavator, just a tiny oil leak. able to find the source of leak due to using pneumatic lubricant, where this liquid had this "Phosphorescence" properties. simple uv lamp, found the spot. however, he told me upon confirm no more leakage, he is changing the fluid to other type

Re: VolVo EC300

a month pass by, was a rc truck gathering, it was time for to show of his excavator to the public.
i was happy to see the volvo in a different feeling. the machine look much alive, and had spirit in it.
the volvo look smarter with it decal and beacon light.
stickers really do much differences on the look, like a women putting on make-up. no wonder my women would never left home without putting on some.

Great project!

Looks like the hydraulic system is correctly matched to the model size for fluent movement, do you know the manufacture and/or any specs of pump, valves & cylinder size?
