Re: Tamiya light unit

The light kit never connects to the receiver. Follow the directions carefully and if you don't have the directions go to Tamiya USA and pic any semi truck and click on Hop Up options at the top of the trucks web page then go to the light unit and click on it. While on the web page for the light unit there will be a link at the top for the manual.

Re: Tamiya light unit

Thanks dabears. i saw that but want something for brake lights and backup. sounds easy a. i found out this tamiya unit has bad switches!!!! no voltage to junction plugs dont know if i will fix it or replace it. was thinking about this
http://www.dimensionengineering.com/...ght-controller wondering if any one has used this or something like it. it is a lot cheaper then tamiya light unit.

Found this and was helpful at least another option

Re: Tamiya light unit

i forgot about those.... i know on ebay too if you put in R/C lighting there are several kits for the cars and trucks that you could adapt to your truck... How did you find out it was bad switches? should have a guarantee with it no? but then you'd have to ship it back and wait... i believe that venture hobby in wheeling might carry something along those lines.

Re: Tamiya light unit

i will need to check out venture hoobies thanks for tip. i was wiring up lights today and first wired roof lights, hooked them to battery and worked ok. wired up to light unit did not work voltage meter on terminals gives zero voltage with switch on. did that several times going to try some other tests see if i can find out why. head lights work. but do i keep going or just rip it out start anew.

Re: Tamiya light unit

Here is an inexpensive LED system but it would only light up the truck but you could use a second one wired in parallel to be used in a trailer.

Re: Tamiya light unit

it is the bulbs. i bought and used the bulbs that came with the roof lights. there different how i have no clue but they drain voltage down to .009 volts. use tamiya bulbs it works at 5.3 volts.

mack kid 07-15-2012 07:39 PM

Re: Tamiya light unit

yes the roof lights are working but i blew one up so need to get a couple more. i still like either servonaught or deminsion light units. think i will try them on next rig
