Project "Black Tie" Peterbilt

Well this truck has been in the makings for quite a few months now, going on almost a year since the first stage of design came to mind. I was aiming for a show style rig that is still functional and fully operational with lots of class. I love the color black on rigs with lots of chrome but I decided to keep it kinda evened out on this project so that everything flowed together smoothly.

I started out with a set of Ric's frame rails from PMD and added several goodies from some of the other vendors on here including tanks, steps, front bumper and air suspension from Russ at The Bone Yard. All body work and paint along with miter cut stacks from Jon a.k.a Stylin N Profilin. The beautiful grill on the front of this beast is from Brian and its absolutely amazing fit and looks really makes this Peterbilt come together.

Now this truck is still a ways from being done as it currently sits but it is officially a roller as of this afternoon. When all is said and done the frame will be painted, have chrome tank straps along with a chrome rear deck. It needs a new rear bumper for it and to mount the 5th wheel then all the small details such as installing the air cleaners, side badges and wiring up the other lights on the rear of the truck. The cab alone has 23 lights on it and will be getting at least 10 more on each side and possibly another ten on each side behind the air cleaners. The finished truck will have possibly close to 80-90 lights on it so it will easily be visible from anywhere it is.

Anyways enough of the small talk for now and here are some current pics of what the truck currently looks like as a roller.

Thanks for looking and hope you guys like the new truck I've built and added to the stable. I hope to have some new pics up this week with the frame painted and hopefully get the rest of parts figured out and ordered or made.

Lemme know what you guys think.

Very nice! I like what you did with Russ's air bags. These custom trucks you guys are building these days are looking so much better than King Haulers were ever meant to be.

Thanks for the compliments. It has taken quite a while to get everything rounded up and put together but it is sure to turn some heads driving around here hopefully.

Thanks for the compliments as well. I had Russ send me all the mounts then I turned out some air bag mounts and made some customs formed bags out of silica rubber and got them to the shape I wanted over the machined piece I made and now they actually collapse on themselves just like the real bags do. Quite a time consuming process for the four of them but I think it looks much better than a simple caliper pin boot like I used before to build a set of bags.:p

Thanks for looking guys.

Thank you guys for the compliments. I got the rails painted and all the chassis done and I'll be taking some time this weekend to get it all back together. I love this new color that is on the frame because it's nice and dark but not quite black.

I'll keep you guys updated on it within the next few days with some new pics.

Long and low. Very nice job on the cab and modified air bags. I'm a big chicken light fan too, so I can appreciate the extra lights!

I could easily see James Bond rolling up to a party in this rig! He likes his diesel shaken, not stirred. :D Nice looking build, be sure to post progress! :D

Thank you all for the compliments on the truck. It has taken me quite a while to get this rig built but it's getting closer to being done and taking shape.

Hope you guys like the new pics with the frame painted. The color is very metallic and kinda textured so it gives it a nicer look in my opinion.

Here are some pics from assembly over the weekend.

Well you asked for it so here are a few shots of the very beginning of the lighting on this truck. :D

Hope you like the lights so far, this is less than half of the total lights that I'm planning for this truck. I'll start ordering more 2 or 3 mm leds soon to start on the side lights and all the air cleaner lights as well. :p
