If your are talking about models you would do the same thing you would do on the bikes and trucks, it still enamel paint. Ed

The stuff that I use on the bikes and trucks smears the enamel on the model though.

What smears the paper or the compound? If it the compound try some tooth paste. Ed

I use the same wax on my truck as I do my avalanche. The finish is smoother, and shinier than my avalanche. :)

Same as with all paint.. appropriate grit pad, proper compound and get to rubbing.

I no longer do on models because the polish gets stuck in all the mold lines and what not. Close to impossible to remove. Tamiya polishing compound should prevent that but regular automotive stuff like menzerna is a killer. Awesome results but just... those crevices.

How soon after painting can you put wax on the body? I repainted about 3 weeks ago and wanted to put some wax on before dressing the cab.

Well skip that last question. Brought the cab into the shop light to look it over from where its being drying for to weeks and the paint has krinkled actually I think the primer did. So back to the drawing board, I hate painting.
