My RC is bigger than your RC. :)
Just completed another rebuild of a underground scoop. After 8 weeks, job is done, but the customer had one more request. Install and test the remote system!:bounce:
I've seen these run on remote but this was the first time I got to try it myself:D So here is a vid of my 40 ton RC loader. http://youtu.be/nS0srAgIyPs |

Re: My RC is bigger than your RC. :)
So what sort of failsafe software is built into the radio control system in case there is ever a disruption in communication between radio & machine?
My experience using Spektrum gear and it's happen to me having a radio turn off b/c it ran out of charge, the model will keep doing its last given command till I chase it down & turn off the master switch. |

Even during normal operation, if you don't move a function for more than 5 seconds, the park brake applies and you need to re apply the park brake release before you can move again. The left stick is drive and steer. It has a push button on it which is like a dead man switch I guess. If you release the switch while operating, the service brakes apply. This system also monitors tranny pressure and hyd pressure so if you blow a hose or the tranny pump fails and the operator is unaware, the machine shuts down. Some of these scoops are run from surface in a nice clean office room , meanwhile the machine is 1000meters underground. Lots of damage can be done running on remote. I've seen a machine that broke the bucket dump cylinder pin on the barrel end. Operator did not realize and tried to continue digging as the cylinder was hanging from the hoses and bashing into everything around it! Wasn't till the hoses tore off before the operator stopped. 30 grand in parts , line boring and down for a week! It truly is amazing the abuse underground equipment takes and how tough they are:jaw: |
Re: My RC is bigger than your RC. :)

Just think, we could run our trucks on the bucket lip :lol: Quote:
For so many years my job in field service was about fixing a machine that's broke or not working right. My sense of accomplishment came from seeing it fixed and working right once again. Rebuilding machines now, I get my good feelings when I see a old beat up machine turn into like new and ready to go...... And it's clean work btw! ;) Mario |
