What motor/esc?
Well I'm waiting on some goodies from RC4WD for my next project.:bounce: I'm going to build a mixer and I need to know what motor and esc would be best to make the mixer drum rotate. I don't want it too fast or too slow. And where can I find a gear big enough to mount on the front of the drum, and the motor gear? (Bruder mixer body). And then maybe some chain. I'm wanting to hide the motor in something that looks like a pto for a more realistic look, so maybe a smaller diameter motor will work, instead of the stock 540, idk.

Re: What motor/esc?
John,
I don't know what scale you are going with but the helicopter main gear that I used on my crane might be in the ballpark for you mixer. And, I know you can get different sizes for the different model copters, and they are not that expensive. This one fits a T Rex 500. http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/...ps215711b6.jpg If you have a space under the frame or in the cab I would try and use a servo converted to continuous rotation and then make a fles shaft to run up to the gear and put a pinion on the end of the shaft. John,
I grabbed a two pack off the rack at my local hobby shop. Here is a pic of the header from the pack. http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/...psebfd369c.jpg Here is a link to heli direct. http://www.helidirect.com/advanced_s...e+gear&x=0&y=0 You will probably find hundreds of different ones here... Re: What motor/esc?
I've done a conversion on the bruder cement truck body:
http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/...psd366df47.jpg I found the easiest way to drive the drum was to hide the motors in the water tank moulding: http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/...2/IMG_2268.jpg http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/...psc4bf1710.jpg http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3715e270.jpg Check out some of the robot parts suppliers for gear motors and other mechanical parts. These guys have an incredible range, they are in the UK but ship globally at good prices. http://www.technobotsonline.com/inde...ategory_id=176 I have found that the Pololu micro metal geared motors worked well for me, small enough to hide and plenty of torque to drive the drum with a couple of kilos of load in it. I used 2x High Power (HP) in parallel: http://www.technobotsonline.com/moto...ed-motors.html but you could use something else if you are going for the external chain drive. The same place also stocks mechanical parts like gears and chains, make sure you get a matching set so everything works OK... http://www.technobotsonline.com/inde...ategory_id=193 as for speed controller, I used this one because it takes up almost no space: http://www.robotpower.com/products/wasp_info.html |
