Re: cheap pneumatic cylinders

I believe they are talking about using air cylinders to run hydraulic oil in. You do not want to run air in the cylinders or the model would act real jerky and not smooth. Like when you dump the load...

Re: So I built a hydraulic pump today

Volume doesn't scale same as distance

1/14th scale, 14 feet would be 1 foot, but 14 cubic feet would be .0051 cubic feet

So your scale weight example would be 57.14 lbs in 14th scale

Re: Drill and tapping Chrome parts

You can also get oversize taps to account for the chrome plate thickness. Something like a H7 or so. Talk to your plater about that and they should be able to suggest the right size for you.

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus-Monighan Walking Dragline

It's called a sensitive drill adapter chuck. Allows you to feed the bit down by finger pressure.

Great looking work on the dragline!

Re: D8R +463 in 1/5,6

Looking really good Dan. As far as moving it, not much different than todays skid steers and track loaders. If engine dies, it sits where it is till fixed, no moving it without something to pick it...

Re: how would i do this?

How hard is it? You say hard but no Rc number. If it is only Rc55 or lower, just face it off in lathe with carbide tooling. Light cuts bit high on the SFM.

You'd be amazed what coated carbide can...

Re: 3D printing KH Body Attempt

I wonder if the acetone vapor process would smooth out the build lines and still leave some detail. Being that it takes longer I would think it would be a bit more controllable, but I haven't tried...
