Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

No picture updates as of right now, I am trying to work on it a little every night, but the painting is a slow process because there are lots of details.

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

I also just received a trailer for it. I will be customizing it (spread axle, upgraded wheels, wood deck, US style bumper, lights, etc) but I did put it together as soon as it arrived. It will do...

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

Well, once again, it has been a while but I'm back at it! Finally got all the electrical problems worked out, and starting to reassemble. I have painted the frame and crossmembers, and also replaced...

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

I did try that. The Wedico system is very complicated so I figured that I would try to isolate the problem by connecting just the motor. Still reverse/reverse.

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

The motors are brand new 12V Wedico-Buhler Motors and the original Wedico ESC (this is located inside the fuel tank). For testing purposes I used the old motor (in the wiring picture). The extra...

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

So I've done all the troubleshooting that I know to do, including adjusting all of the ESC settings. I have heard good things about the Servonaut ESCs so I went ahead and ordered one. I hope that...

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

Also received some goodies in the mail. I've been warned against the dual motor setup, but I wanted to try it anyway. I think it looks cool. If it really doesn't work, I'll go back to the single...

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

Working on sorting out the electrical system. Not sure why, but the motors only go in reverse. The transmitter is indicating that it is going forward and reverse, but with either selection, the...

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

Well guys, I am back! It has been too long. I have finally had time to get back to working on the truck and given the rear suspension a lot of thought. I tried a few different options and none of the...

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

Yeah, I decided against the lift axle. Glad to see the forum is back up and running!

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

Started toying around with an idea of a lift axle... I would obviously need to switch out the under-cab tool box with a fuel tank with steps if I went this route. I'm not a fan of the stock Wedico...

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

Following in Espeefan's footsteps, I got the front axle milled down by a local machine shop to lower the front end. Wish I had the equipment to do it myself, but unfortunately I just don't have the...

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

Nothing major, some extra holes... and a "few" rivets. I've been studying the Modelltruck forum thread that trilliwilli sent. I love the way the rivets make the Wedico cab look more realistic on his...

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

Also got the cab disassembled, and stripped. Have a couple of modifications to the cab while it's raw.

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

Started some work on the grille. The stock Wedico grille isn't bad, but it's not what I want. I love the OEM Peterbilt grille design with the oval pattern, and couldn't find anything off the shelf...

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

Thanks guys! The photo etch round mesh is from amazon (link below). They have lots of different patterns and designs. I ordered a few different styles for various parts on the truck.

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

Small update: little details make a big difference. Changed the mesh in the air cleaners to a photo etched round hole design instead of the woven wire mesh that came with them. I think that they look...

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

Thanks Claus, I designed the rear suspension so that the truck will sit level once the front end is lowered to an acceptable height, so it should work out just fine.

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

Not much progress on the truck as of recently, but did some more tinkering. Next step is going to be lowering the front end to make it more realistic. As everyone knows, the front ends of these...

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

Went ahead and did a test fit of the axle and airbags to see how it would look. I know I'm missing some pieces, but I think this rear end is going to turn out great when I'm done!

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

Been working a lot recently, and haven't had time to work on the truck. Started test fitting the airbag suspension and realized that the leaf springs are too short. Luckily that's an easy fix.

Re: Wedico Peterbilt Day Cab

We're going to let the front tow hook go for now. I think it will look smaller once it's painted. It's been a while since I've worked on the truck, but started some disassembly tonight. Lots and lots...
