A suggestion was put to me that a multi speed reduction box that would bolt directly to the back of the Tamiya box Might be popular......???
What are the thoughts on that....??

You sure can,
there are planetary reducers available that will bolt up to a 540 motor and others that could couple to a shaft, but planetary reducers are not what i'm set up for manufacturing wise.

Proven they certainly are, but everyone complains about the ratios.
"A close ratio 3 speed gearset might go over better then a 9 speed. If the calculated ratios were done so that no one needed...

You cannot get ratios into the Tamiya box that would eliminate the add on3:1 gear reducers commonly used. The gears would simply be too large.
The 44 tooth used on 1st is the biggest gear that will...

It would not allways be necessary to shift through all 9 gears.
As shifting is concerned i would forsee that the 9 speed would essentially be shifted by selecting a range (high, mid, or low) with...

I will have to say having a interior was not a priority when designing this transmission. For me personally it is not a priority at all. I don't see the need to make the cab comfortable for a 5 inch...

With metal gears and synchronizers backlash can be dramatically reduced because the slots in the gears and the drive dogs on the sychronisers are cut into a solid blank and can be made any size.

Many things do not go from 1:1 down to scale. This is a real problem. this is why the trans is a lot larger than a scale model of a real trans would be....
