Re: Road train lighting
might have got that bit wrong - you'll figure it out if you look at the way they're hooked up....either way, I would suggest 5V minimum with protective resistors. I think the MFU actually provides 6V...

Re: Road train lighting
no problem.
Once last thing to be careful about - check the polarity of the signal coming out of the MFU. I -think- that the MFU provides a common +ve supply to all the LEDs, then switches them on...

Re: Road train lighting
you've got the right approach - you'll need 3 opto-couplers as you've correctly identified, you can buy a single chip that has 4 of them all bundled together.
Each LED might only need 20mA so the...

Re: Road train lighting
If you are using MFU as power source it is a bit risky since the extra current drain can pop the MFU. I've known people run a second trailer light set in parallel from the MFU for a road train...

Re: Scania my first build
I'm sure you can get Carson Modelsport parts in USA, but I found the Carson rod wasn't bent enough, it still hit the gearbox when the suspension was compressed , so I made my own. Easiest solution is...

Re: Scania my first build
forgot to say I agree that the top mods for you are:
1) slower motor - Carson 'Poison' is a very popular choice
2) bearings, you got them already - careful when you assemble the gearbox, there...

Re: Scania my first build
benefits are:
1) significantly improved steering lock which also has the correct geometry - ie. the inside wheel turns further than the outside wheel, so that it can follow a tighter radius when...

Re: Tamiya trailer light set
if you want to add extra LEDs in parallel, I would suggest buying 4x LEDs and replace the original Tamiya ones too. The reason being that unless you can find an identical spec (and I don't know what...

Re: Coupler assembly aka 5th wheel
yes, it is confusing....you need to simultaneously cross reference between the MFU installation manual and the support legs instructions...
there are basically 3 types of 5th wheel:
1) there is...

Re: What kind of motor need in PMD reduction 4:1 ?
I've got the same set-up in my King Hauler....Tamiya's Torque Tuned 33T truck motor with PMD 4:1 reduction. The reduction gearbox has steel gears, so it does make a bit of noise. But this should be...

MFC is quite capable of powering an 8ch Rx. I've got a Scania with MFC using all 8 channels (4 channels through the MFC, 4 channels direct from Rx. No problems!
