Re: CAT 374D L

That's great! Looks like it's time to install a new water line, phone line, or sprinkler system now that the hand shovel is obsolete :D

Re: 1:50 Dragline

Hi, Jim,

You could modificate servos for continuous rotation and that gives you a speed control and gearmotor in one compact package that can be plugged directly into the receiver. Or mount your...

Re: Kenworth 850 Off Highway

This has been really interesting for me to watch, Reg. I work around highway log trucks but the big off-road trucks are non-existent around here. Used to be in the '60's and '70's when there was...

Re: 6 Cylinder Diesel For a D9

Will the bore and stroke be the same as a D353? They are 6.25"x8" and redlined about 1200-1225 rpm which is my favorite thing about them. Much more enjoyable to live with on a boat rumbling at 800...

Re: 6 Cylinder Diesel For a D9

Wow, this should be cool! D353s are the best sounding engine ever. My cousin has a fishing boat with one in it and it sounds awesome. What rpms will it be turning?
I know the guys over at...

RC Komatsu D-155W Underwater Video

Serious stuff here! Don't know a lot about them, other than there seem to be at least two in Japan.

Re: CAT 374D L

Wow this is great! I was real interested to see how you did the swing. I think the dual ball bearings will be fine. My milling machine has a similar arrangement for the spindle bearings to keep the...

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus-Monighan Walking Dragline

That's a lot of bolts! But at least they've got nuts on them and won't need tapping. Looking forward to seeing more!

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus Erie 25B

Thanks, guys!

Steve, according to Alibre, the three parts together are 1.045 lbs if I made them exactly like they're drawn.

Tom, My slip ring has 6 circuits and my plan is to crimp servo plugs...

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus Erie 25B

My slip ring had a sticker on it that said "2 amps" but didn't say anything about at what voltage. I got it off ebay from someone catering to the home windmill power generation folks, whatever...

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus Erie 25B

Thanks guys!

Nathan, I've got a Clausing 8530 mill. It's a pretty nice little machine. Only thing I wish was different about it is it would be nice to have more Y-axis, but other than that it's...

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus Erie 25B

Jigs. I love 'em and I don't like making them. But often they're the only way to go. I made the track roller shafts the other day.

Re: Mack M75SX

I've heard of pushing dirt off a platform above the truck but that's a new one on me. I like that out-of-the-box thinking.

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus-Monighan Walking Dragline

Is the structure of the house steel? If it is, how do you keep it from rusting? Heated shop? Around here it's so wet unprotected steel doesn't take long before rust starts to form.

Re: Marion 5561 Stripping Shovel

FWIW, I was flipping through my Marion book to see what it had to say about the 5561 and I ran across the 4121, an 8-yard loading shovel with knee-action crowd. Says "the only conventional shovel (as...

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus Erie 25B

Today I got the track frames 75% completed. The one I made earlier I had to remake because I changed it so it was 1/8" longer and .100" shorter in height. I didn't get any pictures of making them but...
