Re: 1/25 6 Axle Lattice Crane

Thanks, Guys! Ken, I have to admit I haven't been real active on the model RR since I started with the crane, but I am partial to Southern Pacific, and I want to model the general feel of the area I...

Re: 1/25 6 Axle Lattice Crane

Here's an update on this li'l project. I've started on the carrier's deck and bodywork. Styrene is my old comfort zone, it's nice to be working in it here. The cab is styrene, I penciled in the...

Re: 1/25 Scratch Built Models

Those are all wonderful 1/25 scalers! I model mainly in 1/25 scale. My only entry here on this forum is my 1/25 crane, everything else I do in 1/25 is scratchbuilt or kitbashed plastic.

Do you...

Re: Liebherr LTM1800 scale 1/24

Where do you get this nylon cable? Sounds exactly like what I need. I've been using silk fishing line, probably made in the '60s. Strong and round, but MAN is it hard to find. Does the nylon cable...

Re: Liebherr LTM1800 scale 1/24

Hey, Kerst, I took a look at a couple of the videos. I'm a little puzzled as to how your upper unit is going to operate, but obviously you have it down. Watching the outriggers lift the whole thing...

Re: RC modified Manitowoc 4100 tower crane

I'm trying to catch up with this build. Do you have any pictures of the overall crane, with something to use as a size reference? Dan

Re: 1/25 6 Axle Lattice Crane

Again, thanks for the nice comments.

I have "play" in mind too, and here is an early look at the crane running a couple laps around the back yard to see how it behaves off road. Note that it's set...

Re: 1/25 6 Axle Lattice Crane

Thank you for the comments, gents.

Stuffing that equipment in the upper was one thing, but the carrier is just about as stuffed. That mechanism that lifts the counterweights up off the deck so the...

Re: Help with G scale RC?

If you havn't found an answer yet: A few amps isn't going to tax a decent ESC. I have some that can handle "12 turn" motors, which can run at about 36 amps and peak at about 65. The question is...

Re: My scalish tractor build

Ya know something, I get more inspired by watching somebody really BUILD something like this, and make the best use of what's at his disposal than I do seeing someone simply lay out a bunch of cash...

Re: US6 Studebaker build

I can relate. I actually took a bunch of projects out of the main workshop and left a few, so as to make myself finish up the ones nearest completion. THEN, I can start on some other ideas...Dan

Re: Liebherr LTM1800 scale 1/24

This is too much! At least I can rest assured now that i'm not the only one nuts enough to tackle an operating crane in 1/24-1/25. I didn't know there were cranes posted in this section of the...

Re: 1/25 6 Axle Lattice Crane

The motor I'm using has a very high gear ratio. I think it has more to do with the high impedence of the motor Im using, and the pulsating output of the ESC. I won't have time until next week to play...

Re: 1/25 6 Axle Lattice Crane

Progress report...I ordered that BaneBots ESC, installed it, and watched as the crane's upper unit can rotate at high speeds, and definately has improved lower speed performance over previous ESCs,...

Re: 1/25 6 Axle Lattice Crane

I might mention something that might be of interest to anyone building anything with lattice or rungs. It's much easier to drill holes in the square brass tubing and then insert the rungs or lattice...

Re: 1/25 6 Axle Lattice Crane

Truth be told, the trains at 1/87, the crane at 1/25, I have on occasion absent mindedly knocked the train cars off the tracks when playing around with the crane! gotta watch the level of that hook....
