Re: Bruder Piggyback Forklift

Oh, write away! Conversions are in many ways much harder because, as you note, the thing is designed for looks and not to fit all the stuff inside that a full RC needs.

Heck, the only conversion...

Re: 1:10 Land Rover Defender 4x4, mini tow rig

Quickie update: while googlink for parts for other projects, found some new stuff for this one. First was that one can get differentials for the WPL axles, yay. When I tore these down to grease them,...

Re: Never a Gas Station around.

It's the AMC Pacer that gets me. One of the few cars weirder than our Fieros; IIRC, the driver's door is a different length than the passenger's.

And dammit, I've been trying to connive the wife...

Re: Traffic Light

Sweet!

I'm a big fan of the 'dweeno, use them in most of my projects to drive lighting or extra controls (not least as they're really easy to interface to my RX of choice, Flysky using iBus.)

Re: i need a hinge

That's sexy. It's like a W-hinge, only like WW ... wow. Deceptively simple, too, but a beehive to draw up and animate like that.

But, several pieces of cardboard and thumbtacks and I betcha you...

Re: i need a hinge

Honestly, this may be your best bet -- or do the Cardboard Aided Design thing as a starter. A few thumbtacks as rotation points and you're golden.

I suspect you're looking for like a Z-shaped...

Re: 1:10ish 3D printed DOT "Construction Ahead" sign display

Thanks, but eh, it's not as bad as it looks. All the various bits have software already written for them ("libraries", and thankfully the more recent Arduino software has come a LONG way in managing...

Thanks. "Little" is of course relative as relates to the word "project" :D, but yeah, good fun. Plunk down some of the many traffic cones

Re: 1:10ish 3D printed DOT "Construction Ahead" sign display

Was a bit nervous about the battery right by the power wires, so the switches are soldered and then heatshrinked (heatshrunk?) over each wire ... and then heatshrunkedified over the whole thing Just...

Re: Green Mountain Girl - Grand Hauler Build

Oh, baby, the FSi6 is an amazing radio. There's a whole ecosystem of new firmware for them to expand them to 14 channels (or more!), change the switches around, add new controls, etc etc.

Re: 1:14ish tires but a bit smaller for a tag axle? Bo Wallen do you do this?

Huh, didn't see anything from RC4WD now... but thanks, that's actually good info. I seem to recall getting other "JDModels" tires from them once, which they later didn't have. But at least I know the...

Re: 1:14ish tires but a bit smaller for a tag axle? Bo Wallen do you do this?

Ideally ~78mm OD, 18mm wide. No more than 20 wide anyway, don't want super singles on a tag. Perfect world, 1.7" wheel to match those on the other (main drive) tires. Make sense?

1:14ish tires but a bit smaller for a tag axle? Bo Wallen do you do this?

Seems like the default tires for a 1:14 semi are like 85-88mm OD. I'd like something a bit smaller in diameter for the tag (lift) axle, as is the case on the 1:1's. Counting on my fingers says ~78mm...

In the 1:1 world, I'm a Ford guy, but I'd take a RAM over a GM any day. (Actually, my FIL says the perfect truck would be my SuperDuty with the Cummins out of the RAM and the Allison out of the...

Re: 1:10 M1070 and M1000 HETS

As always, thanks for the good words.

Wrt driveshafts, part is my fault for them being a bit short, and part was fixed by loc-tite on the set screws.

I think gluing the tire beads would keep...

Re: 1:10 10x10 "HEMTT" (actually M1074 PLS w/ M1076 trailer)

Got industrious and replace the TX's two dials, which I'd been using to drive the lift and hook arms, with on-off-on momentary switches:

Re: 1:10 M1070 and M1000 HETS

As with the Abrams, this build isn't quite what I'd hoped. I don't expect perfection; I lack patience and I'm not a rivet-counter. In addition, I also enjoy my builds being functional, so they're not...

Re: 1:10 M1070 and M1000 HETS

I've seen several M1070 builds, but not so many M1000 trailers. Not only is there not need if you don't have an Abrams or other crazy huge thing to pull, they're a complicated setup.

Five axle...

Re: 1:10 Land Rover Defender 4x4, mini tow rig

Wrt the body, thanks. Did take a bit of sanding, and filler primer and paint hide most of the print artifacts. There's some of the diagonal lines from the slicer being confused, I think, but yeah,...

Re: 1:10 10x10 "HEMTT" (actually M1074 PLS w/ M1076 trailer)

LOL, yeah. Still nowhere near the detail of many builds -- I'm thinking of a RNoAF crash tender in particular :) -- but still fun.
