I used pvc pipe. I think 1 1/2 inch diameter. as far as length thats up to you. I think I cut mine 5 inch long. I traced the diameter to a piece of styrene then cut it out and glued to the ends....

Small update. I made a set of fuel tanks andot them mounted. Had to make a small adjustment to the sleeper to have enough clearance for the stacks.
