Re: DIY Hyd Pump

I already have a Sunnen hone and some small mandrels, just have to relearn how to use thing again, been awhile.

Slowly but surely I'm piecing together whats needed for pumps etc. Will have to get...

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus-Monighan Walking Dragline

Yeah, these little Arduino boards can also be set up with real time feedback as well as they communicate both ways. So things like winch motor temp or something could be monitored at the controls.

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus-Monighan Walking Dragline

I haven't gotten too much into the Xbee cards yet (the wireless portion of the combo), but I do believe its like the 2.4ghz radios in that they have to be bonded together and are on a code to...

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus-Monighan Walking Dragline

Yes,the Xbee wireless is on a bluetooth frequency, some of the more powerful ones have a 1 mile LOS range.

The Arduino board is a computer programmed logic controller board with (depending on...

Re: DIY Hyd Pump

An internal relief on the pump is no big deal, neither is an external one for that matter. I can see alot of different valves that could be made eventually to give more options similar to what is...

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus-Monighan Walking Dragline

hmmm, for short range and the room you have, what about a pair of Arduino boards with Xbee wireless on their backs. Just set up to to a few analog and digital IO's???

Re: DIY Hyd Pump

Once I get a pump built a standalone relief valve would be an easy next project.

I like the idea of a belt as well, just cause most of these motors are running so **** fast, if it could be geared...

Re: DIY Hyd Pump

Well if all works as I'm hoping it wouldn't be long after getting the first pump designed, I'd look into a slightly larger version.

Would brushless motors be preferred over brushed? I haven't kept...

Re: DIY Hyd Pump

Ok, starting to get an idea of what you guys want in a pump (or pumps). I'm trying to find a good motor that would be a bit slower rpm which would help everything last a bit longer and getting some...

Re: DIY Hyd Pump

Well it will take a bit of time to finish up the work I have in the shop now and build a prototype and run it on a test stand for a while. And yes eventually I would probably look into valves and...

Re: DIY Hyd Pump

Ok, I sourced a bad pump to start a new design off of. Looks like I should have the needed equipment to make similar pumps, with possibly some added features or options.

Couple more questions for...

My hot rod

Couple pics of my hot rod. My painting skills leave alot to be desired, but oh well. Has some custom front wheels I cnc milled back when I was learning how, as well as a custom lowered front axle. It...

Re: If you had 1000 dollars what mini mill would you buy?

Well, lots of people make some really cool thing with mini mills. Myself, I don't think I could handle one of them, have a 7x10 mini lathe that I absolutely hate, but my dad thinks its great for...

Re: Hydraulic Motor Temperature

I wonder is a small enough pressure switch could be tied in to run the esc of the pump motor control, thus changing motor speed to just enough to keep the pressure constant?? This would work...

Re: Hydraulic Motor Temperature

The pump is a "fixed displacement" pump
The valve is most likely a closed center, meaning the center neutral posistion is closed to any oilflow. You can also get valves (not sure about in the small...
