Re: DIY Hyd Pump
Well, I do have a VMC, turning center, and Computer controlled CMM, so the tolerance while tight, is not impossible for me. Maybe when things slow down a bit (hectic couple weeks) I'll look seriously...

Re: DIY Hyd Pump
What kind of demand do you think there would be for these. I can probably get it all done, would have to do some prototyping and testing first though.
What kind of specs are the pumps you guys...

Re: cnc ?
Steve, if you can find it, may be difficult. Try and find a manual mill that uses the same toolholders as your CNC, saves a TON on tooling costs.
And most toolholders (Cat40 anyway) come balanced...

Re: cnc ?
It should be the same taper, and if you can lengthen the drawbar it should be good, although I seem to remember someplace had a "pullstud" with female threads in it that fit in the NMTB spindles, put...

Re: cnc ?
Not postive on the Cat 40 in a NMTB 40 spindle, might work, if the drive keys are same etc. I'll check the handbook and double check they are the same tapers etc.
As for holding smaller tools,...

Re: WELCOME TO THE ROCK FARM
Could always do 1/8th scale with tracks and RC movement and just have a 110VAC pigtail it drags around like the large mine shovels do.

Red granite gravel pit? I run through Halder every once in awhile, see conveyor belts, belly dumpers, and quad axles all over around there

Re: Cat 777D Mining Truck
Mcmaster Carr has some really small hole stuff (like down to 0.006" hole dia) and everything in between.
Just search for perforated sheet and then click on round hole. Something like #9360T14 with...

Re: What mill to buy
I would opt for a small mill with R-8 tooling over morse taper. It releases easier and there are quite a few companies out there that make mill tooling for it. Years ago it may have been that morse...

Re: What mill to buy
There are quite a few home brew cnc conversions of the Rong-Fu type bench top mills if you look around. I would opt for one of those long before the little taig or sherline, but then I am used to...
