I was able to do the first test run on my CAT 980, its a little sloe backing up, but otherwise I am happy with it..

The tires are solid rubber, I think they will dig a big hole in the ground quickly in soft material..

I will get the Cat 980 built ( bucket/log grapple ) and then give your idea some thought.
Those heads are a work of art, lots of moving parts in them... I think there is tallented people on this...
