What grade of aluminium are you using? The endmill is leaving an awfully nice finish without any coolant or cutting oil.

This little guy is going to be fussy as to the terrain it runs on, with smooth tires and no suspension it will have to spend it's service life on hard sufaces.
Hopefully it'll be done...

The servo is from rc4wd and is rated at 200oz at 6 volts. I'm running the same one for the drive and it has to grunt to move a full load. I might have to regear the output to get more power.

I find I have way more "feel" with pinch control of the gimbals especially since I cut the first joint of my right thumb off (long story) and had it reattached a few years ago and it has limited...

the bolt patterns are just dimples with a center drill. Once the rims are painted they will look better.
The lathe is running in babbit bearings and makes a real mess when running for long periods. ...

Yes they are a nice lathe. Where I work still has one from when it opened in the 1930's. Simple design and quite sturdy.

Yeah they scare me too. I fly at the track when nobody is there. Just so I don't have to worry about hitting anyone.

The camera is only about 4oz. But the helicopter can lift 5 lbs easily. The only problem with flying at the truck show is the 40 inch carbon fiber disk spinning 2400 rpm interacting with...

More progress: front axles are mounted and the rims are roughed in. Now the rear ends are starting to take shape.
The first pic is of my Dad's 1917 Southbend lathe he is useing to make all the parts...

If the tires are just slipping on the rim and are still in good shape I could turn a new set of rims with a larger diameter to fit the tires. If you don't have any luck getting new ones.

The truck will be 1/12 scale and I think there were a few different versions of the truck but not many were produced. Steamer knows a fellow in Victoria who worked building them and has info on them.
