Re: Zil 130 Thing

Yeah, I'm still not exactly sure how to get the look I'm after. And I'm not confident that I'd be able to mask the paint scheme cleanly enough, especially with all the curves on this front end. ...

Re: Zil 130 Thing

I appreciate y'all's input! It sounds like we're all pretty much on the same wavelength. :) My initial plan was to replicate this truck's paint, possibly with a bit more white:...

Re: Peterbilt 6x6 Medium Hauler

So I hit a bit of a milestone yesterday. You see, a very daunting task that's been lingering over my head is the wiring for the lights for this truck. And that was on hold while I determine what...

Re: 1/10 Kenworth K100 Aerodyne

Orange, I don't think Lil Giants intended his comment the way you interpreted. I think he was just curious because it was hard to tell in the pics you'd posted. :)

BTW, did you post pics of this...

Re: Ram Build

That's awesome! I so want to built a version of my 1:1. It's just a Rebel, but close enough. LOL But maybe I should finish a project before starting a new one??

Re: Zil 130 Thing

A couple pics of the chassis painted and assembled. Still need to get a drag link in there and I may tweak the spring rates a bit more, but so far I'm liking what I'm seeing. The suspension is a...

Re: Zil 130 Thing

Thanks! Yeah, I spent some time tweaking it with a hair dryer. It's way better, but still needs work. I was completely unsuccessful getting a reply from King Kong RC, but fortunately Asia Tees...

Re: Zil 130 Thing

It looks that way, but I think the spacing is different. But I plan to use that location for brake lights anyway. :)

Re: Zil 130 Thing

I found a problem with the rear suspension tonight. You see, the primary leaf spring pack is relatively soft, but once the overload springs make contact with the perches on the frame the suspension...

Re: Zil 130 Thing

New rear wheels showed up today. Turned out they're machined aluminum, as opposed to the stamped steel wheels that came with the kit. The long hub is also integrated so it's good I don't need to...

Re: Zil 130 Thing

Been out of town for a few weeks with the new job, but when I returned I decided to move forward with making this thing a 4x4. I mean.....it was inevitable, I guess. LOL Anyway, since I pulled the...

Re: Zil 130 Thing

Have been working on the Zil a bit and doing some bodywork. These light holes annoy me so they're going away. They also don't fit with my eventual plan for this truck. So......

Re: Zil 130 Thing

Uh oh, I wonder if the King Kong police will be after me for sharing my progress pics?? LOL!

I've considered the patina look, but kinda want to do my rendition of a restoration this time. It'll...

Re: Zil 130 Thing

Yeah, it does look a bit big, but I think it's close enough so it won't look too out of place next to Tamiya rigs. That's my hope anyway!

I've got some build updates to share...

I got the 80t...

From a Zil 130 to 1956 International S-120

Hey y'all,

I've been wanting a King Kong RC ZL-130 for quite some time. The detail looks amazing and it looks like it could be a fun rig that looks like it may fit proportionally with 1/14...

Re: Peterbilt 6x6 Medium Hauler

With that narrower Lesu front axle the tires tuck waaaaay more than before. And this is shown with wheels that have much less backspacing than the ones I've been using. I would actually like to...

Re: What's everyone been working on?

I'm in the middle of a pretty big project on my Jeep. I cut it in half (again) to stretch it, building all new suspension (again), and will be putting some one ton axles from a Ford Super Duty,...
