I use the Beier usm-rc2 (http://www.beier-electronic.de/modellbau/produkte/usm-rc-2/usm-rc-2.php) in all my models, excellent piece of kit once you figure out how to program it.

Yes you can switch between models that are left powered on no problem, I do this a lot at shows with no issues.

I've used a brushless motor and esc with the beier usm-rc2 with no problems at all.
But for slow speed running at home and at shows I would recommend the servonaut geared motor and S22...
