A suggestion was put to me that a multi speed reduction box that would bolt directly to the back of the Tamiya box Might be popular......???

What are the thoughts on that....??

Hi, i originally developed the 9 speed transmission on the advise of someone fairly prominent that is involved in the hobby that it would be well received.

That advise for whatever reason was...

You sure can,
there are planetary reducers available that will bolt up to a 540 motor and others that could couple to a shaft, but planetary reducers are not what i'm set up for manufacturing wise.

Proven they certainly are, but everyone complains about the ratios.


"A close ratio 3 speed gearset might go over better then a 9 speed. If the calculated ratios were done so that no one needed...

You cannot get ratios into the Tamiya box that would eliminate the add on3:1 gear reducers commonly used. The gears would simply be too large.
The 44 tooth used on 1st is the biggest gear that will...

Hi,
Why put the highlift transfer case on to the truck 3 speed....?
Why dont you just replace the truck 3 speed with the highlift 3 speed.....???

Hi, i can't see a selector shaft anywhere, can you shift through the gears while driving, or is it a matter of changing the pinions to change the ratio ....??

Ever thought your truck tends to veer off to the left or right when trying to drive straight and you feel you need excessive steering input....??

These trucks have no Caster, Camber or King pin...

I am working on a Cat V8 engine cover to go over the front of the transmission to improve the engine bay looks.

This is the extension through the front firewall into the engine bay with the 9...

I will have to say having a interior was not a priority when designing this transmission. For me personally it is not a priority at all. I don't see the need to make the cab comfortable for a 5 inch...

With metal gears and synchronizers backlash can be dramatically reduced because the slots in the gears and the drive dogs on the sychronisers are cut into a solid blank and can be made any size.

Thankyou for your thoughts on the matter.

Many things do not go from 1:1 down to scale. This is a real problem. this is why the trans is a lot larger than a scale model of a real trans would be....
